I'm sure dreadlocks would look great, but I'd start with a technique that is reversible, so that you can undo them without cutting if it doesn't turn out the way you want - at least during the first weeks. Also, I personally would want a few more months worth of length before I start. - Why don't you start with any kind of reversible dreads and post the result?
