So I've gotten into crocheting in the last year, and have been making some dread tams (big back hat for holding dreadlocks.
This is a tam I sold to a friend in NY
And here's a timeline showing my dreadlock formation (by just not combing/detangling)
Just checking in, I do still read here a bit, I just don't post as often.

Great tam, and I love the look of your dreads. That's cool that you learned to crochet... I did too, a couple of years ago, because I wanted an anklet but couldn't find anything I wanted to buy. More guys should learn to crochet and knit.
peace,
dino
Oh Awesome Picture gret hat to Thanks for sharing :-)

That's a very nice design and color. Matches well with dreadlocks. good job.
Lookin gangster fo' sho'.
Hi "Ball" Guy,
these dreads and the dread tam are phantastic! (Even before putting it into dreads, your hair was looking great already!) And, your ear tunnel and the nose ring look sweet, too. Congratulations!
May the dreads grow forever!
Hans-Uwe
It is always good to hear from you. I am one of the lucky ones to have followed your entire adventure (so far). Hair is outstanding, Tam is great. (I quit smoking through crocheting.)
Looks like you are still having great fun.
Thanks for checking in.

Very cool (zero Kelvin!!!) looking dreads. They seem to look a good bit longer now. They look similar to Jason Momoa's on the Stargate Atlantis show. The naturally grown in beard looks good too. I like the way you let it all grow including the neck portion. I have never let the neck grow too. It really suits your look.
My grandmother tried to teach me to crochet one time and I just ended up with a big knot and never tried again. You seem to have mastered it though. You will be turning out sweaters and things soon.
Is the bus project still coming along well? That is going to be fun when you get it completed!
You know it only takes a few more minutes to make a post than it does just to read here.
See ya later, Bragi
Sick, dude! I love dreads, and yours are awesome. The uniform thickness and colors are great.
The progress pics are really revealing - with the facial hair and the working-out, you really seem to transform from a boy into a man. In the shirtless pic on the first row, you look a lot like the Rastas in my country.
The tam is kickass, or as we say, irie. :P The look really suits you. Just one crit - you said that a tam is a black hat, I think, and that's not true - tams come in any color(s). The ones I see the most are the iconic red, yellow and green ones.
Keep it up!
Peace
I actually typed "back hat" but I meant to say "bag hat". I just made another with the red-yellow-green color scheme
And thanks for the compliments!
That "Ball" Guy
Oh, my bad. And this tam is even cooler than the other one. You've got a real skill for this. Keep it up.
By the way...have you ever seen people without dreads wearing tams? I'm just curious about this.
Hey that's cool man. Makes me wish I had curly hair hehe
Great dreads...I really like them!
WOW!! very nice dreads you have there!
also your face fur and nose ring is looking good too

Excellent dreads progress shots, Mr. Ball Guy, excellent!
I'd had dreads all the way back in '91. However, although shoulderlength, I had opted to sheer them off. But, hey, since you're good at chrocheting tams for those WITH dreads, mayhaps ya oughta sell 'em, via some internet site. What say ye?
Anway, anyway, your locks're really "BIG", as they say in Dreadspeak. Keep 'em comin", bro, keep 'em comin' !
And, if you're a reggae enthusiast, try tracking down the latest issue of RELIX! magazine. It's got a great cover story on Michael Franti o/t band Spearhead. There's even a free CD inside, his newest track, an anti-war dittie, "Light Up Ya Lighter" as the first song thereon. Perfect sentiments. Enjoy!
Best regards,
Anadae
The tam looks great and your hair is doing really good progress as well.
I wonder what my hair would be like today, if my dreads had been going as good as yours...
