I grew up in New Mexico and always respected the Traditional Native American men's committment to long hair.
They have beautiful black hair that turns gray with age.
One local woman told me that her uncle collected and milked Yucca roots for her to condition her hair. She had the most beautiful hair I have seen in my 52 years.
I am an accountant by trade and a Yogi & Photographer by passion. I'm into 3 months of no cuts. Sometimes I present to the Board of Directors & I am getting puzzled looks. I hope it does not cost me my job, but I am sick of conforming to the conservative norm. I am identifying with my respect for Trad. Native Amer. & my spiritual Master. And I like to run my fingers through my long hair,:) So nice to make everyone's acquaintance, Larry
Hi Larry, welcome to the board.
Three months is not yet that long, of course, but it's a good start, and I wish you all the best for it. I'd think it's never too late, as the example of Ben Nighthorse Campbell shows.
Also, I'm convinced and I hope that the board of directors won't make the mistake of losing an experienced and loyal employee over the hair issue.
Best wishes for your journey,
Hans-Uwe
You think running your fingers is fun, wait until you get to the point where when you shake your head in a "no" fashion, your hair swings along. Amazing feeling, very relaxing. :)
You might have to get a bunch of trims to make the awkward stage look as presentable as possible.
Or just tell them how long you've worked for them, that you're a good worker, and don't intend on "rebelling" or anything like that. Just want your hair long, that's all.
If your company uses hair as the only excuse to fire you after working for them for so many years, then you probably dont want to work for them anymore...
