So over the 4th of July, I had a bit of an accident. Not too major. Also, it wasn't fireworks related. Alcohol. I had a bit too much to drink one night, and was looking for my lighter to light my cigarette. Couldn't find it, so I used the stove. Well, it cinged my hair. Nothing bad (Not even noticeable). My question is, how will that effect the growth?
Also, any tips on promoting more hair growth. It seems to have just stopped. I know that vitamins, shampoos don't really work. A bunch of people at my work say to "get a trim, it will start growing faster". I've always heard against this. Thanks.

It will do nothing for your hairgrowth. If the cinged ends are damaged they might be prone to tangle, and that could warrant cutting out the offending ends (only those cinged). If there appears to be no damage, I'd just leave it.
Not getting a trim is my best advice. Don't know of any special stuff to make it grow faster.
Well as long as you didn't start Dante's inferno I guess you'll be ok.
Doesn't hair grow from the follicle? Burning the tip should have no effect.
I knew a girl that would singe her hair to keep the ends from splitting *shrugs*

yea ive heard that hair singing was common in the 60's im sure one of the boards oldies would know (:P) if it works well.....
A trim might make it look thicker at the ends which could be confused with growing faster (since it won't look as thin). Just a guess.
Thanks for the replies. I figured it wouldn't effect the growth, because the hair grows from the root (scalp). Just curious though. Thanks again.

Have you considered not smoking?
I was going to say something like, "What a divine comedy," but the Lurk Ness Monster already beat me to the reference.
Be careful out there now, y'hear? :-)

Hi Dante,
James' idea is great: There is some evidence that smoking has a negative effect on hair growth, it impairs the blood flow in the scalp, and it may worsen or trigger Male Pattern Baldness.
If you want some help on stopping, read the book by Allen Carr: "Allen Carr's easy way to stop smoking". You may find his style a bit propagandistic, but the book is effective, and Allen knows what he's talking about: He was doing 100 cigs a day, and he stopped cold turkey - and it worked! I freed a long-haired friend of mine from that habit by giving him that book as a gift - and his hair does grow better since he stopped!
Since your user name is Italian: The title of the Italian translation is "E' facile smettere di fumare".
Modifying a quotation by Red Tail Wolf, I'd say, "Take a deep fres-air breath for hair growth!"
Wishing you happy and "divine" growth,
Hans-Uwe
I tried smoking once, but I dont like the feel or the smell... I dont know, I heard that smoking is genetic or something, like if your parents smoke then you would have more chance of smoking too. However none of my parents smoked.... But I heard for some people smoking is like a religious duty or something.
