Anyone ever heard of this. It's called Super Skinny Serum by Paul Mitchell. I was just wondering if you guys could help me think of any negative side effects. Apparantly it uses silicones to smooth and condition the hair, and maybe something else to constrict the hair shaft so it doesn't soak up as much water. Seems like a good idea in theory.

I don't know man....as with anything, something worth having deserves dedication and time....and when you start trying to take short cuts...make your hair dry faster? Maybe dry OUT faster. What ever happened to driving with all the windows down? Takes a mere few minutes. I'm VERY picky about what I put into my hair, especially after making all the mistakes I have in the past (a foot and a half of straw textured disgustingness). I'll just stick to natural measures. If being skinny were as easy as taking a pill everyday, everyone would be skinny. If having long hair were as easy as taking vitamens and other rip off products, everyone would have long hair.
Actually, from what I know about mechanical lubrication silicone is just a water barrier, so I pressume you apply this stuff to dry hair and it prevents water from going in (or out) of the hair. Alchohol would be what you'd use to intentionally dry wet hair faster, and this actually reduces the wetness to begin with. That's my theory at least, and hair is a more complex structure than a piece of metal.
I definitly agree with you about it being "cheating" to take shortcuts, but I guess we all do that in one way or another in different areas of life. I like to let my hair hang loose, as tying it up makes it take literally all day (as in it will be evening and it would still be damp) to dry and I doubt that's good for my scalp. That winds up in it tangling really badly even though my hair is straight (it has a rough texture I think, so the fibers stick together).
Thanks for your opinions though and I definitly see where you're coming from, especially with all the bad talk about 'cones in the community.
I washed my hair this morning at 8.30am then went to work with the car windows open, it was dry by the time i got there (30 mins later) works for me but them i'm female and i like natural LOL
Jesus christ, 30 minutes? So you said 'natural', does that mean you don't use this product?
