Hi, my name is Joe. Im from Pittsburgh, PA. Im 18 years old and im pretty tall (around 6 ft 4 in) I am a musician by playing the drums guitar and the bass. Im a fanatic of rock n roll music (mainly classic rock) and the fascination of long-haired rockers. The real story of this is around october 2002 when i was about 14 and 1/2, i grew my hair out from a crew cut. My hair grows fast because it is very thin and straight. I let it grow out for 3 years, it was about a 5 inches of of my shoulder and the bangs about 3 inches from my chin. In about november 2005 i had cut my bangs around to my eyes. I let the back and the hair over my ears the same length past my shoulder. I loved it. But in the first few months of 2006, i had developed a aggravation for it. It bothered me since i cut off my bangs, i couldnt tie it back fully anymore. if i did, it looked stupid. So i left it go freely and it annoyed me. So at the end of march of 2006 about 5 days before my 18th birthday. i had it cut to a crew cut where i had started (got alot of attention though) When i had cut it felt good. That did not last too long before i developed a regret for myself that i cut it. I had so many positive comments about my longer hair through the years. Now halfway through 2006 already, and about 3 and 3/4 months since i cut all my hair off, i have decided to restart the long process of growing my hair OUT once more again. I haven't cut it since and its growing pretty fast my bangs are about an inch away from the tops of my ears and the hair over my ears is grown about halfway over my ears already. Im NOT going to cut it ever again for many years to come. Only a slight trims here and there for healthier hair.
I believe if you kept your hair short all your life, and you have a great head of hair, give it a chance to grow out before you go bald someday and loose it all.
I have a fascination for hair and long hair styles especially. Im a straight male and I do not have an interest in homosexuality.
Pleased you are growing it again. Long definitely looks good on you.
That's fine. I'm gay but I think it's stupid for people to jump to conclusions about one's sexual orientation based on things like that. Just because you are interested in hair, long in particular, does not make you gay. Some straight men like hair, makeup and cosmetics. Some gay men like sports, cars and fishing. In other words, we can't really judge a book by its cover.
Hope to see some pics as your hair progresses. Take care!

thats very pleasing to hear my man
o/t out of curiousity how many gay men are on this board? i'm straight for one
It dont really matter as they are here for the same purpose as you and me HAIR !
Axel
As I said before does it really matter and it's not important as at the end of the day this is a longhair board.

Do we have to go down this road again?
Hi Joe,
Welcome to the board, your story sounds so familiar to me by now from others here that I am beginning to think it just might happen to many longhairs eventually, as if it were inevitable, myself included. Its even possible that just hearing from others "Don't cut it, you will regret it like I did" is not enough to stop someone from doing it too. It's possible that some things have to be learned the hard way for yourself and no amount of warning from others can substitute.
At least you learned it early Joe and got it out of the way :)
Yes, it has happened to me as well. About two years ago, I went and cut my hair off (although it did not go to waste as it was donated to Locks Of Love - hopefully somebody else is out there enjoying my hair). I was nice at first to not have to deal with all that hair, but it was not long until I started to miss it again. I decided to hell with everyone else, I am growing my hair back. If they don't like it, well, TFB! After seeing some of the pictures and reading some of the stories on here, it is all the more reason that I am letting my hair grow. And this time, I've also learned a few things about hair-care from here that I did not know the last time. Give me a chance to take better care of my hair this time around.
To the original poster, don't worry about it. You are still young and your hair will be back again.
Hi

Hi Joe, and welcome to the board. That really is some awesome hair, and I'm sorry that you regret having cut it off. You're young, though, and you've got lots of time to grow it back and have it look superb. Hope the adventure is good for you.
BTW, there's a wonderful mix of straight, gay, and everything in between on this board, all living in perfect harmony.
peace,
dino
Hi Joe,
Welcome to the board and good to hear from you. Your not the first to cut your hair and regret it later and I doubt you will be the last as we do have posts from time to time. Still glad to hear you are growing your hair out again and good luck on your journey. You know you will have plenty of support here.
There is nothing wrong with having an interest in longhair and longhair styles.
Keep it growing.

Well your hair looks great in the photo, hopefully it won't be long before it back where it was. Or rather it will be long when its back where it was...
Grammar is a pain in the butt.
This sounds familiar.
I used to have hair mid back length, approx 10 years ago, cut it, enjoyed it, but now its time to 'get real'.
I am growing it out and am at seven months, my wish is to keep it long for the rest of my days.
This board is great for support and inspiration, so hang around and time will fly by.
Welcome Joe and thank you for your posting as well as the photo that shows us all a great example of long thair that looks splendid!
More often than not a guy will cut his long hair and regret it soon afterwards. I read of it many a time on this board during the course of a year. Precious few EVER say they were glad they cut it, and most regret their decission and begin the long process of growing out their hair again. So, you are not the 1st by any means.
Long hair looks great on you.
