Hey there fellows =)
First of all, I'm a little bit late in my progress this month, I'm gonna try to post pictures today yet =)
Anyways... my cousins and my aunt from Luanda, Africa, have arrived two days ago for their holidays =) My cousin Joana, whose hair is really really curly, and a great inspiration for fellows like 80's Metal or Fallen Angels I would say, has doubled her hair lenght! If you stretch her curls it would be like waist lenght, and last year she had mid-back lenght or so, which means she's got super fast growth! I'm surely gonna post some pictures of her in my update this month =)
Still about my cousins, my cousin Ricardo, 9 years old, told me "oh Joao, your hair is so long... it looks like a girls hair..." I kinda didn't know what to say, but anyways, 5 minutes later he was touching my hair and told me... "I like your hair a lot João!"... I just said thank's, that was really sweet of him... I have to understang the girly alike coment, since I've been to his coutry already and there are not a single long haired male in there... In fact, he did tought it was strange, some years ago, when he figured out my eyes were green so... =P
About my sister's hair, she's been having some problems with detangling because of the sweat and stuff... Some of her hair sometimes dreads by itself and it's a really big problem to detangle =(
My hair seems to be growing really gently now =) But I've been noticing a lot of sheding, would it be because of the excessive heat we're going trough here in Portugal? I'd hope so... or maybe because of the season's change? Oh well...
Hope everything is fine with everyone =) I'm still gonna try to post the pictures, but either ways, they didn't came out really nice this month, since I had to take them inside the house because there was too much hot outside... Impossible to moove a muscle lately... Oh well...
See ya!
Bom dia!
I think that was a compliment from your young cousin actually; lots of girls have very nice hair, e o senhor tem cabelo lindo!
That is cool to have been to Angola and have relatives there. I guess there are still many Portuguese people living there although the country has had it's independence for thirty years now.
Has your sister tried some detangling spray or balm? That might help some with the tangling problems.
Boa sorte e ate logo!

Hi Joao
Nice to hear of your family and of the little one who ended up liking your long hair. :-)
I think Bragi gave the only advice I could think of. Hope it helps your sister.
I would say the shedding is a natural thing caused by the fact that those hairs life-span had come to an end and are being replaced by new hair growth which is all part of the cycle which goes on constantly. Another thing, once your hair gets really long it doesn't take that many shed hairs to look like quite a bunch. Perhaps count how many have shed next time you wash. At your length I was shedding around at least 75+ hairs. Now with 4 years nearing, when I wash I see 10 or less shed hairs. (Usually only about 5.) Absalom was the one who told me that as your hair gets longer it also gets tougher in holding its weight, and you are just beginning to approach this time. Also, the ones you are seeing shed may be much older hair growth than you even realize. They may very well date back to the days when you were getting regular Haircuts by quite a long time, so now their growth cycle was going to end anyway.

João David, it may be that your sister will want to wear her hair up in a bun more often as it continues to grow. I have seen a few people refer to waist length as the "fun length" because after that they usually have to wear it down less often to protect it from tangles and injury. It always surprises me so few men use the option of a bun. While some peple want long hair to wear loose or down all the time that does take a toll on hair and certainly makes for more detangling.
If she doesn't want to have a bun or twist secured to her head then perhaps two braids would work for her. Since it is smaller than one braid it can be tighter and gets less wear by being off the back that makes it shaggy and difficult to undo.

Well said your grace and certainly putting your hair in a bun certain does help from the shreding.
John.
