Does anyone update the link to the longhaired personals? I've been "pending membership" for nearly 2 weeks.
If you mean you have submitted you picture for the directory of users then I'm sure Oren will be in the process of adding your information. As foe "longhair personals" this is not that type of site.

If you mean the yahoo group, i tried to join that just to see what it was like. my membership was pending for about two weeks then I was turned down. no reason given. I sent an email asking why the delay, saying that if there was a problem I'd certainly try to help solve it. After I was turned down I sent an email asking why. both emails were unanswered. i concluded there's something going on, what I don't know, but since it was something I was only curious about, I gave up and let it go.
Sounds like that Yahoo group is defacto defunct, and maybe we ought to just remove the link. It was only put there to give people an option to posting here since we don't accept personal ads. We used to link the gay longhair board there too, and we took it off because it shifted to allowing pornographic material. Now it appears the straight Yahoo group linked there does that, too. (I checked the validity of all of those links two days ago when relocating the Hyperboard, and it said it was now an adult site.) One line of logic is that people interested in such stuff nowadays can use Google to find it; they don't need us to help them do so anyway. I'll go and remove the link to it now - no point in wasting people's time sending them to an abandoned site.
thanks Bill, i appreciate the update.
It is not defunct. Although activity has waned on it, it is active. I don't participate there much (less than here), but I do know one of the founders (at least I think she's a founder) personally. She's the one whose hair is on the group marquee.
She spends something like 14-16 hours a day working on child abuse cases, and similar work that is hugely taxing. I don't know what the story is for other moderation staff. I'll drop her a note, though (or call her), and post an update.
Just a point of clarification on this point. That classification is a result of a yahoogroups rule that went into effect a couple years ago. ALL matchmaking or matchmaking-like groups MUST be flagged as adult. And it's virtually impossible to switch a group from adult to non-adult. I know it's not impossible because I've done it (for a group for alumni of a missionary boarding school in Guatemala -- the one where I attended grades 3 through 9).
Anyway, this group was posted due to my recommendation. I will check it out again, but as far as I know, it's still a good group.
Well, I should have checked it out before commenting. It looks like it has been taken over by spammers. I'm still going to contact my friend and see if it should be salvaged.
