I forget the impact wearing a leather jacket can have, coupled with wearing my hair down. The other day I went to a favorite local seafood restaurant to order some clam chowder to go. The waitress was a new face to me, and I caught her staring at me. When she handed me my chowder, she asked me in broken English, "Do you ride motorcycle?" Trying not to laugh at being stereotyped, I decided to respond kindly, and just answer honestly...
"No, but I have a truck, --- does that help?" (I have no idea why I included that last comment - lol!)
The last time I even attempted to ride a motorcycle (1 out of only 2 times in my entire life), one of my brothers was trying to sell me his by offering to teach me how to ride it at a somewhat empty beach parking lot. After sketchy operating instructions, I revved up, lost control past the parking lot edge, and accidently drove straight up a sand dune, falling over at the top. Once my brother stopped being doubled over from laughing at me, we both agreed that I must not be destined to ever own a bike. So much for me being a rough & tough California biker-type! To some folks, though, I apparently have "the look".

And in spite of how capricious your truck can be, you two are made for each other...
cheers,

Hey William!
So nice to hear from you, --- and your hair is growing back quite amazingly fast (as well as looks FANTASTIC)!! Will miss seeing you at the big Stompede out here this year; but as I remember, you said there's a family reunion you're going to in Italy that conflicts (hmmmm... let's see: Italy, or San Francisco... OK, I'll confess: I'd choose Italy myself, too!!).
I forgot to include a leather jacket pic of me with my original thread, so here it is included with this reply...
Keep on dancin', William, --- and hope you keep growing that gorgeous hair of yours, too!!
- Ken
Hey Ken, the Leather there makes you and the hair look pretty good, like a biker for sure. Keep up the great work and I have had bikes yes! Lots of fun
What jumped out at me in this post was the "leather jacket" in JULY!?! Isn't that a little warm?
You do kind of look like a biker though. ;-)

To quote Mark Twain's famous comment about San Francisco's climate...
"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."
We locals can spot a tourist from a mile away: they're the ones wearing Bermuda shorts & a Hawaiian shirt, while shivering waiting for their cable car! Locals are the pale folks who know better: they bundle up before stepping outside in June, July, & August! If we get above 70 degrees on a summer day, we call that a "HEAT WAVE", --- our fair city has natural air-conditioning, thanks to God's strange sense of humor & the Pacific Ocean's cold current that comes down from Alaska. The inland areas of California (especially the Central Valley & deserts of So. Calif.) can bake at well over 100 degrees everyday; but not coastal No. Calif., --- especially SF, where the chilly fog rips by your face like a mid-winter blizzard!
So, yes, i DO wear my leather jacket in July!!!
- Ken
Well, I learn something new everyday! I had no idea it was cold in the summer there. Maybe I can make a visit one day and experience it for myself. I'll be sure to bring a coat!
Bragi
Yes, even official info for tourists recommends to bring along a coat; but nobody ever believes and/or reads it! Once in awhile we do have a "heat wave" that reaches into the 80s or even 90s, --- the result of winds blowing from the East (from the hot inland areas, like the Sacramento Valley). But it doesn't usually last long (on average, only about 2 or 3 days). Our best weather is in the fall (Sept. - Oct.). By then the cold ocean current coming down from Alaska has finally had a chance to warm up a hair (but seriously, it's still not what anyone in their right mind can call good "swimming temperatures"), --- as well as the hot interior is finally cooling down from its summer extremes. The fog in SF is a direct result of that clash (miles & miles of cold open water and the winds coming from the West over it, clashing with dry heat from the baking interior, --- and the Golden Gate's gap in the coastal mountain range that sucks in the cool marine air)... You can literally drive to your choice of climate here!
- K
Well, i've been wearing my leather jacket too almost the whole summer now, although it isn't that hot here in Sweden actually:)
...I was looking for a picture, but couldn't find one. Not gonna think about digging out my leather for a fresh pic in NOLA summer.

What part NOLA; I'm uptown
Terrytown for now....

>Re: ''Do you ride motorcycle?''
For all those motorcycle riders, considering what
happened to Ben Rothlesberger please tell me every
motor cylce rider here wears a helmet.
Even if it does give you helmet hair.
I ride and yes, I wear a helmet... always did and always will! I just tail my hair and let it hang down in back. Yes, it does get a little snarly when I get home but I can deal with that. Quite often, I'm out riding and a small [or somewhat larger] stone will bounce off my helmet or visor. It's times like that when I say, 'And that's why I wear a helmet!' :)
[hope this works]
This is from Mt. Hamilton, East of San Jose, CA. Eight miles from my house as the crow flies... 17 miles by road.

Im sure you make a better motorcycle driver than most everyone in Taiwan. Ever tried driving a scooter (not a motorcycle) through a heavily crowded street at over 60 miles per hour? Its an accident waiting to happen. For some reason people do that here cause they're too lazy to walk 2 blocks and get what they need.
Bike rider here since age 10! Motocross, then hill clibs, then just street ridin . Nothing better than music playin for relaxation! Eat A Peach For Peace.
PS: Even though two Allman Brothers died here in bike accidents I still ride. I visit the graves on my bike. Love riding on Duane Allman Blvd. and Berry Oakley Drive to pay tribute. Might be a bit morbid but it eases my mind! RedTail Wolf
