That's pretty cool.
Here is another link with interesting comments both pro and con about whether Kate Hudson should cut her sons hair.

That's an interesting article, thanks for sharing. I don't really have many thoughts or remarks to make about it, i'm neutral for the most part. Yes, the little kid does look like a girl with his ponytail but at that age the only physical feature that really differentiates between both genders is the hair length. Hudson is a free spirited hippy type, and it is obvious she is pushing her own influences on her child. Nothing the matter with this at all. I have seen the movie "Almost Famous" which is about 70s rock music so i can believe she likes that whole era of music, fashion, clothing etc.Whether the little boy decides to keep his long hair in later life, well we will find out one day. I think the major problem of little boys and long hair is that they often get mistaken for being the opposite gender. My cousin had long hair when he was 3 years old but cut it off when he started school because of peer bullying, social pressure and 'gender mistakes'. I know 2 young boys around 10-12 who both have waist length ponytails and wear Iron Maiden and Metallica t-shirts. The first time i met them i was confused what gender they were, no joke!
Their dad is THE BIGGEST HIPPIE IN THE WORLD, like i'm talking straight out of 1971 with a hippie bus, long hair, ciggarettes etc - fits the 'hippie' stereotype perfectly. So there is no doubt his influence and upbringing has had a profound influence in their hair length, appearance and even musical tastes.
I commented on it. Here's what I said:

I wonder, really, if those commenting badly about the babys hair, dont have issues with gender stereotyping - especially the way they seem to say that being a boy is *better* than being a girl (a girl can look boyish, but a boy cant look girlish), which is TOTALLY FALSE. They are equal, neither girlishness or boyishness is better, but you guys seem to imply that any hint of feminity is something to be ashamed of. You guys need to come out of stone age

Anyway they really need to get a grip on themselves. You know when someone comments about someone else, it's always an issue THEY have over something, meaning their problem.
Wow, I simply couldn't agree with you more =)
I would like to think that people, such as yourselves, would back up people who have sons with long hair. However the media love this kind of thing and unforunately this wee boy will grow up with a stereotype (as you all have) in the media which will make him somehow different.
This kid, the child of minor famous people, is a celebrity kid, and he cannot grow up the same as others by the fact that he is the child of the famous or semi-famous. His pic is splashed across foolish tabloids. You have to ask yourself why?
no 1 because they can
no 2 because they can ridiciule because its not 'normal'
no 3 should they be focussing on a child anyway??? think of the damage on a kid who isnt even at school yet?
the media have a lot to answer for and i personally feel sorry for him and his parents, who have no need to excuse anything in this case and yet, the mother feels the need to explain herself
