hey all.....i just got back from the concert (my first gig where i played "sweet home alabama" if you remember) it was terrified all day and felt sick and it was even worse when i got there and the guy that was playing guitar with me didnt turn up (he insisted on learning the solo) then i felt really sick.....luckily a friend of mine was playing guitar with the orchestra before me so i taught him the chords to play while i did the picking (guitar teacher sang and did bass and some random on drums)
i was terrified the whole time until i walked on stage and i seemed to relax it was really fun...i made a few mistakes but apparently they didnt notice (dunno tho) once i got off i really wanted to get back on and play some metal!! lol
schools head of music asked me to feel free to come to the next one(the last before i leave..i thought this was the last concert but there you go)
some little kid said he thought it was good.........i still tihnk i could have played it better..oh well
oh yea and as for the hair it was ok after all as long as i didnt
bend right over to play whitch is good cuas it forced me to stand correctly.
Well done, Themuffinman! You not only survived it under stressful last minute changes but also sound ready to take it on again. Congrats!

Sounds like you are comfortable on stage and a natural talent....Could be a turning point in your life !!
Well Done !
Congratulations, you overcame your fears and were sucessful with the gig!
Just remember that you are your own worst critic so try not to be too harsh on yourself, mistakes or not, noone really notices, expect for you, and maybe your guitar teacher, lol.
When i was in a band(been in since i was 14, left when i was 18 so 4 years) our first gig was at my guitarist's dad's fiftieth birthday party. Obviously it was just a moderate sized party with a few friends and family but i was very very anxious about playing the gig. After playing more gigs and eventually scoring larger pub sized venues my confidence levels improved marginally. I now have little stage fright, bring it on i say!
thats cuas your a bass playa and there always smooooth and chilled lol :P
Very cool! Nice to know things went well for you. Get the first gig out of the way and it only gets better! I did my first gig when I was 13. My first paying gig at 15.
We are our worst critic. I think that's what keeps us improving and getting better! :)

Congratulations! I am very glad it turned out well. I have a lot of respect for anybody who can conquer their fears and excel despite them. The quality of the playing wasn't as important as the fact that you did it. I imagine that you can focus on playing much more when the audience becomes a familiar setting.
