Hey guys
Right now my hair is probably around 2 or 3 inches at the back of my head, and it gets really wavy.
I don't know if i don't shampoo there properly or if i don't groom it properly.
So can you guys help me out with getting it to look a little bit better at the back? With styling tips or grooming techniques or whatever you guys do to make your hair at the back of your head?
Thanks!
Hi Ribz,
First of all, it's hard to really help someone if we don't have a picture of exactly what you're talking about... And secondly, we aren't really a professional grooming salon or anything like that, --- we're just a bunch of guys (and a few female regulars, too) who give each other support & shared advise based on experience in having / growing our hair long.
And now, having said the above paragraph... Welcome!
Here's my answer to your above question, as best I can give without a picture to look at: 3 things come immediately to mind that may help... 1) When you shampoo, tilt your head forward to let the water run over the back of you head (especially when rinsing out the lather); 2) use a seperate conditioner (avoid shampoos with so-called "2 in one" built-in with conditioners); 3) when dry-brushing (I never use a brush on my hair when wet, because hair is at its weakest then), brush hair forward with long strokes to encourage the natural oils to come out.
There's a 4th thought that is even more important to consider, though... If you are planning on growing your hair out even longer than what you stated is current length, then you need to get used to the fact that long hair has a definite "life of its own" (and BEHAVIOR of its own), --- it is not going to "stay in-place" in the same way that short hair cooperates with our styling will. Click on the links section, and you can read more about this in Bill Cnoisser's, "On Being A Longhair". There are plenty of other great reads in there, too!
If, on the other hand, you just plan on keeping your hair at current length... then really just going regularly to a good hair stylist can help you best with that.
Others here may have some additional ideas, and/or disagree with me on some of my above points... No worries, though, --- just try out what sounds best to you, and keep what works best for YOU!!
Hope my comments have helped!

Hey there Ribz!
As your hair is growing naturally, without trims, it's now starting to get the layered effect, which will make your hair get thin ends. Anyways, if you want to grow your hair, you're gonna have to go trough this awkward stage where your hair will have those curls, flips and thin ends... Anyways, everything will settle down in the end, and you'll be happy with your hair =) A picture would help indeed tough... I wish you the best luck, and get away from the scisors ;)
