I dont know if this is just my hair type but I seem to have small ponytail compared to most other people, I wonder is this because its just the way my hair is or will it get to look bigger once it grows out more? I mean most people can have a ponytail where the tie is at least 1 inch in diameter, but mines is more like 1/2 inch...
I have just recently also been able to get my hair in a tail, and the diameter was relatively small. But I have hair on the sides and front that do not reach yet; until the front hair (bangs) grow out to stay in a tail, you do not have the full diameter of hair in the tail.
I am sometimes impatient; wanting it to be there yesterday. But it will get there. Give it time.

Um..hair does grow, man. Give it some patience, you'll have what you want soon.
He's talking about thickness, not length.
i dunno...im definately gonna have a bigger than usual tail...hairdressers used to comment on how thick my hair was BEFORE i started growing it.
Don't worry! :)
There was an interesting site with ponytail circumferences. I have lost the link (I'm sure it's easy to find it on google), but I wrote down the info.
Thin - less than 2"
Medium - 2-4"
Thick - more than 4"
So, for an 1/2" diameter the circumference is about ~1.6" which is not bad at all. It will get only thicker with length. If some hairs don't reach the tail yet, it will be a lot wider, believe me. Even if you have a full tail already, it'll get visually wider anyway.
There's one important thing! Even if thick hair is considered to be cool or whatever, it's not "better" than any other hair. Be happy with what you have and will have with more length.
Keep growing.
Mine is about that diameter, but it spreads out nicely. I think it looks good. When yours is down your back, I'm sure it will look good also.
