hi, I started growing my hair back in 2003 from 1". I had several trims the last one was in december last year, they cutted like 3 inches. My hair is getting too frizzy and horrible lately, and is like not growing anymore.. Should i trim half of it? or what if it reached terminal lenght? should I cut it all off and start over again? My stepmoms is always complaining that theres too many hair everywhere and i dont blame her. theres always like tons of hairs everywhere falling around. What should i do? i had been visiting this site from the day I started growing my hair. i gotta admit all u guys are a great inspiration!!
Lol kvlt black metal. :P
It seems a bit curly, which is why you don't think it's growing. I would suggest measuring it straight out now, and then in a month or two measure it again, and see if there is even a slight change.
yea my hair hardly grew at all for months cuas it was curling. It seems the curls are loseing to gravity now and the hairs straightenng out
haha...interesting facepaint.
ifits reached terminal yor very unlucky......
Hi Tony,
first, that's a interesting face mask painting - is that for a concert?
About your hair: I think it does look quite good.
- It's normal that, after three years, the growth seems to slow down or even to stop. There is no need to worry.
- It is also normal that you shed some hair and that excess hair is found here and there in your room / apartment.
- Third, depending on your hair structure, it is also normal that frizziness shows up only when your hair is long.
Possible solutions:
- If frizziness is a problem (which it is for a lot of people), try to wash it with conditioner only, or try some leave-in conditioner. I get good results with any kind of anti-frizz fluid (also called "anti-split-ends fluid"), a clear oily fluid that contains dimethicone, cyclomethicone, and almost no other ingredients.
- If hair shedding is a problem, just make sure you live a healthy lifestyle, i.e. get enough sleep and good vitamin-rich food. IF you smoke, by all means stop, because there is some evidence that smoking can worsen hair loss.
- If your stepmother's nagging is a problem, I'd just help her cleaning the house or freeing the brush of the vacuum cleaner from all the hair. (On the other hand, if her daughter lost all that hair, perhaps she probably wouldn't complain?)
To summarize, keep it growing, just take good care of it. You do look good with long hair.
Best wishes,
Hans-Uwe
Thanks for your advice.. The corpse paint was for a halloween party hehe! I will take your advise and only trim the ends.
Hi Tony,
please don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trim ANYTHING. Feel free to post again (or e-mail me) if you still feel that you have to trim somewhat. YOU DON'T.
Happy growth forever!
Hans-Uwe
Don't cut it, I think it looks great. It fits your corpse paint just fine and if you're really in to black metal music frizzy hair shouldn't be problem to you. What is your lenght goal? I would have been happy with it as it is now. Your own apperance is your buissness and NOBODY elses.
All longhairs have problems more or less with hair falling off everywhere (try cleaning out the shower drain lol)and there's nothing unnormal about that. If this is a big issue to you then maybe you should be more careful on how you maintain it. Use conditioner, be gentle while loosening tangles and don't keep it tied more often than you need.
It's a cool thing you like this site and I couldn't do otherwise then agree with you. Hope you rethink cutting and goodluck maintaining it
Hi, yeah i love black metal but I also listen to other music too! My goal has always been waist lenght, but its taking tooo long to get there.
Rest assured, your hair IS growing. The trims you are getting are defeating everything so naturally you are thinking your hair isn't growing.
For those who desire long hair in the shortest amount of time the solution is so simple: Don't cut it as it is growing-out no matter what it looks like. Hair, (with enough passage of time) evens itself out all by itself and looks far better in the end then if going the "Trim Route." One exception for cutting anything: Split End troubles. But this does not require a total trim.........no way. Just the Splits are targeted and snipped. The rest of the hair is left alone.
I would tend at this point to leave all where it is and not even look or think about a pair of shears for at least 2 years.
he knows what he's talking about!!!! and above all, don't buy in to the myth that frequent trims will help your hair grow faster--it just ain't true!!!
Hi justin, let me tell yo a little bit of history about my hair back in 2004 i told this lady in Fl to cut just the ends, and she ended up cutting it to my chin, by that time my hair used to be past my shoulders.. the last trim i had was in december and yes take took off like 3 and a half inches,, so if i shouldnt been cutting my hair with those ppl i think it would be waist lenght already.. God what i did... Anyways im just hoping it grows back again fast, but is taking too long and my fear is that what Should i do if i reach terminal lenght?
Hi Tony!
Your story has been heard over and over again by many a guy. You didn't know, so please try and be easy with yourself. It HAS been a learning experience, but of course I am sorry it was a hard one.
Rest assured, your hair WILL grow back just fine. Hair can take much abuse, but like the grass of the fields "will" grow back. It will take a long time however as the average growth rate is 6" per year. There is no way out of this. If possible, try not to fear "Terminal" length. It is different for all of us. Most likely you will easily be able to achieve mid-back long hair which is very common for just about everyone. After that the chances go down, but not really by all that much. Waist length will most probably one day come true for you. Average time for this is about 4 years. Beyond that is like a toss of the dice I guess and genetics will play a great role in further length.
Justin~
Hail... nice Emperor shirt... and compliments on the corpspaint too, don't see too many painted faces these days (and I admit, I have never gone with the corpsepaint). After 3 years, a half-inch trim may be a good idea... i got my first small trim after 2.5 years. But no more then a half-inch. Other then that, just try to keep it from getting really tangled and damaged.
