I've had long hair for a few years now (I'm 20) and thinking about getting an undercut, I've seen people with them and like the style and think it should work alright with my looks.
But I'm wondering if there's anything ya need to know about getting one done, I know there's not really any going back once it's done so I'd rather not mess it up =)
i dont know about it but perhaps the 2 week rule should apply to undercuts too ? :P
heh i read the 2 week rule and it's been well over that (a few months)
OK I'm probably the only one on this board who has an undercut
and likes it. I've had it for 3 or 4 years. Mine is not cut
very high or extreme.
That would be my advice if you decide to go for an undercut.
Just get one that's cut maybe 1 1/2 inches or so up and see if
you like it. You can always get it cut higher later if you want.
But if you cut too high first you can't go lower without growing
it out again.
Hi Kierz,
an undercut is really like going partially super-short. There have been several board members who did it for the "excitement" or for "kicks", and the regret lasted about two years (the time it takes to grow the undercut out again), and, there is some kind of "awkward stage" associated with growing out undercuts, too.
To maintain an undercut, you need a precision stylist, because otherways, the hair shaving line might move upwards every time you have the undercut renewed.
In any case, I'm always happy whenever I learn about guys who have been able to grow their hair starting perhaps as young as 14, 15, or 16. Glad to see that tolerance of your environment is no issue.
No matter what you decide, good luck to you.

Sounds like you have given the Undercut considerable thought and perhaps even before posting may have thought about it for more than two weeks. If I am incorrect, give it the 2 week rule first and see where your thoughts are at that point. If unchanged, here would be my suggestion:
Perhaps consider getting a "modified Undercut." By this I mean only about an inch to start and see how you like it. This particular look is my favorite of them all..........but that doesn't in any way mean it is yours. But, this would be an ideal way of "testing the waters."
I know many are against Undercuts. But then, many are against Bangs, Longhair and just about everything else. It is your own personal like and way of expressing yourself which makes you happiest that counts.
One thing about an Undercut: The hair falls in a most wonderful exquisite way unlike any other.
