Hey everyone. I haven't been around much lately, but just thought I'd give a quick update incase anyone was interested. It's been almost three years to the day since I got my last official haircut - I believe it was July 29, 2003. Seems like a quite a while ago now! Had a minor trim in November 2003, and another one about this time last year (as much as two inches were cut off in some places due to damage from highlights before I knew how to care for my hair).
A few days ago, my friend's girlfriend braided my hair. I'm not sure I like the appearance of it braided but it sure was easy to wear! (felt a bit weird - the weight of all the hair centered in one place on my back). Too bad it only lasted a day and I couldn't braid it myself, so back to a ponytail at the office, and hair down at home.
Some guys here have grown their hair for a shorter period of time and it's just as long as mine, if not longer. Not to mention thicker. I'm so jealous. I'll try to get some more pics of my hair down. That's the way I like to wear it - looks fuller and longer then.
Cheers!
Hey Peter,
I've been wondering where you have been, glad to see that you're okay. Your hair looks fantastic! I love that braid.
Before reading your post, I was thinking you might have done it yourself. That girl did a great job. I bet you could eventually do it that good yourself, it just takes a lot of practice.
That's a thick looking braid to me, I wouldn't worry about thin hair at all.
Jason
Hey Jason,
Good to hear from you too! Your hair is looking great. I was browsing through your website a few days ago and became inspired to take some pics of my own hair growth.
When my hair is braided, it doesn't tend to look as thin as it does in a ponytail. I tried braiding it myself, but it was hopeless. I need a lot of practice! Or to drop by my friend's place and get his girlfriend to do it for me again!
Cheers,
Peter
Hi Peter,
the braid looks quite good, and very "presentable". It is definitely one of your options to wear your hair in public. Just try it a bit more often, and see how you start liking the appearance.
Happy growth!
Hans-Uwe
Thanks! If it were easier to tie my hair in a braid, I might try it more often, but I can't do it myself. Unfortunately there's not usually anyone around to help me. But I'd like to try wearing my hair braided a bit more often, maybe a bit tidier and tighter than shown in that picture.
Cheers,
Peter
Peter, the braid looks great. And since it's easy to wear, it's definitely a good choice, if you can convince someone to do it regularly for you. But I bet, with a little practice, you can probably do a reasonably good job yourself.
Great hair!
dino
Dino, it's the braid is certainly a different look for. I've been wanting to try it for a long time. Unfortunately there's nobody around to help my braid it, so I'll need to learn to do it myself. It certainly takes patience and practice! I didn't take any pictures of my feeble attempts at braiding it myself, nor would I go out in public like that! ;)
Thanks,
Peter
I think the braid is also good for the hair, compared to a ponytail. So I tought myself braiding my hair, and after some days of working on my technique I can "go out in public" with it ;) Though it's not perfect, I think it's good to have someone to do this job for you. Your braid looks better than mine I think ;)
Unfortunately I don't have a photo of my hair like that, but I'll attach another one so you get an idea of my hair :)
If you know how to "switch" the strands between two hands behind your head, you can do it quite fast. For me the catchiest thing is to get three equal strands..
btw., my first post to this board :)
regards,
Jonas
Hi Jonas, welcome to the board! I'm an infrequent member here, but I check in every few months, for the last three years now!
Nice hair! That's encouraging to know a lot of guys can braid their own hair with practice. I need to get used to it, then I might wear a braid more often.
Cheers!
Peter
Looks cracking, Peter!
Good to hear from you again.
Thanks! Your hair is coming along really well too. Looking at your avatar, I can really see the difference.
hi, Peter--i remember a while back you had a post where you asked for suggestions of how to wear your hair for a function you were attending and i told you to braid it because i thought it would look really good on you.
i was right!!!
so now you need to learn how to do it yourself--see my response to Mesmerized's post from a couple weeks ago where i "walked" him through it or feel free to e-mail me; i'd be glad to help.
Hi Randy,
Yes, that's right. Back in February I was asking for advice on how to wear my to a function. I ended up leaving it down, but I didn't have anyone to braid it for me, and I wasn't (and still am not) able to do it myself. I'll check for your response to Mesmerised's post for those tips you were mentioning.
Thanks!
Peter
Hi Randy, thanks for the ideas on doing braids myself. I followed your suggestions and it turned out quite well! With a bit more practice it should look good enough to go out in public. But, practice makes perfect.
glad i could help!
Thanks! ;)
I've been doing fine, keeping busy at the office, just trying to find time to put up some new pics to celebrate my third anniversary of growing out my hair!
