so yea i shaved my whole head bald. i actually had no intention of growing it long again but coming back here has gotten me interested. right now im thinking ill just do the same thing i did last time, dont get any cuts for 2 years. but last time i started growing it from a barber buzz. this time i did it myself with kind of primitive methods of using my cousins beard trimmer followed by razors. if i start it like this do you think in the long term the hair will have split ends because of the way i shaved it? these werent razors made for the head it was a mach 5 turbo i think.
You hair will not have split ends. Shaving it has no effect on regrowth at all.
Good luck in whatever you do. You pull off all looks equally well. (Yes, including the bald, shaved look.) The important thing, as others have pointed out, is to feel comfortable with yourself. Otherwise, it's all a waste no matter what you do.

Why? Well this place is committed to long hair, you being a former longhair will always have useful advice and experiences (and progress pictures, past and present!) to share.
Nevertheless it is an added bonus having you here and growing your hair out again.
Personally when i was going through my 2nd process of growing my hair (I'm now at nearly 30 months) you were one of the guys that I 'came up with' so to speak as you were only a few months ahead of me in your hair journey.
I think chris said it best in that you are still very young so that you can have long hair many times in your life. It also doesn't have to be any pressure as long hair can have supericial (e.g. appearance) as well as deeper (e.g. spiritual) meaning.
Nothing wrong with that at all-have fun!
And I'm glad that you have FINNALLY realised that your hair wasn't that bad at the time.
Sometimes it just takes hindsight.

I don't think you'll have any problem because of the way you shaved your hair. I used to shave my head bald exactly the same way you described, and my hair has grown out just fine, with no split ends or other problems.
No shaving won't do any damage of this sort. However by starting from a shaved head you will have perfect hair with no chemical or other damage.
