I was playing at an all day metal fest in Michigan this last weekend and ran into this longhair girl playing bass for Unhallowed. She was thrashing around with all of her hair down as she played. I find it easier to braid mine at this length to keep it from tangling, especially in hot weather like we are having now.
Kind of a windy day.
Hair looks cool, on both of you!
All day metal fests rule.

Awesome...rocking picture
Cool photo, Erik. Your hair looks a bit tattered from all the heat, sweat, and wind. It seems like you had fun though, and hopefully your hair did not tangle too badly. Time for the Aussie moist. BTW, that is a great product.
Long hair forever.
Absalom
I had it braided up most of the day, just had to take it out for the quick photo op but didn't even brush it out.
Still using Aussie Moist myself.
Your hair looks great anyway you desire to wear it i quite like the look in the picture to Thanks for sharing your picture :-)

Very cool!

This pic is hands-down INSPIRATIONAL!!! Seriously, you should take more pics and send them in to show off that amazing mane of yours more often, --- it is definitley not an "everyday" occurance to see hair that long! As the saying goes, "If you got it, flaunt it!" The 2 of you look cool together as well, and I love the contrast in colors, --- her rich red hair with your charcoal black!
If I ever achieve hair that long, I will die a VERY happy man. Thanks for sharing!

thats awsome. what band are you in?
Thanks for the amazing picture Hairreligion. EdG, Absalom, Nyghtfall and especially you,Haireligion have been my inspirations and unofficial mentors for keeping my hair very long....when so many men of my age are bald or balding, it is great to know their are men in their late thirties and forties (and beyond) who have great looking hair. That being said, I'd like to ask Erik a few questions...your hair looks about the same length in earlier pictures from your website. Have you found that your hair has reached its terminal length? If not, has the length your hair grows slowed down....also, have you found that your hair has receded at all...or do you have the same hairline you did as you did as a teenager? I'm wondering about this because my hairline has receded a bit at the temples but otherwise has remained pretty thick....do you have to have no recession at all to achieve waist length .....i'm just wondering if it means if i will eventually go bald (is it my slow descent into eventual baldness), or can one still achieve a length as long as yours while still receding a bit in front? I'm 44, and cant seem to get my hair to grow past mid back.... I've wanted to ask this questions to some of you older longhairs here, but i was afraid it might be too personal ....i certainly wouldn't want to be uncouth.......but since everyone on this board seems to be so encouraging of each other, i thought i'd ask...and who better to ask than Reverend Erik, the man who's website more than anyone else, has really inspired me to remain a longhair.....especally when it seems everyone i know has told me that it's time to give up acting like you're still a kid...and get a haircut more befitting a man in his forties...i think of EdG's mantra that long hair is my body's natural hair style, but i can tell you sometimes it is difficult not to just conform .....you guys, none of who i know personally, are like kindred spirits to me.......and for that i say thank you.....
Thanks for the kind words, I'm sure the other guys you listed would say the same. I'm also glad that you got something from my website, that's why it's there.
I don't notice much change in my hair length but others ,including the person who does my trims, keeps telling me that it's getting longer. Personally I do think that it may be around terminal length but since I am not competing to grow it longer that is fine with me. In that pic I just posted it's hard to see the actual length as it was windy and my hair was kind of kinked up from being in a braid. It's also hard to get an accurate idea of length in a picture when the person it's on may be small or large.
I have not noticed any real receeding yet in my hairline. Not to say that this won't happen but you can't really compare your own hair and it's characteristics to someone else's.
Sure, your hair can be waist length if part of your scalp starts to lose hair, the hair you have just has to be allowed to get that long. If it seems to have stopped then it can be due to a few different reasons. Terminal length (the ability of your hair to grow to a certain length before breaking off) or how you care for your hair to allow it to be healthy enough to stay around longer and achieve more length (also assuming that haircuts have been stopped).
I wouldn't be able to tell you if your hair will continue to receed though, that is often a matter of waiting to see. Just in case, enjoy it while you have it. I do have a few links on the RAQ about hair loss if you have serious concerns about it.
And about "growing up", this certainly is not a REAL issue, it's a smokescreen for social conformity.
I'll go you one better. I have a haircut befitting a 52 year old
man.......waist length hair.
I gave up on kids haircuts years ago.
OMG, she's gorgeous, lucky you!
