Hey guys, I've wanted to have long hair since 7th grade but my mother didn't let me (so pathetic and childish lol) but now I decided to grow it out finally and there's nothing she can do about it.
I'm currently 15 and haven't cut my hair for 2 months. It grows really fast because I used to cut it every month, I have really good hair for spiky styles without the need for gel. It just stands up itself. Though that is not possible now since it's got longer.
I'll post progress when possible. I'm not planning to trim it till XMAS 2007 so that it can really grow unless the growth rate remains the same in which case I'll have to trim it earlier lol :D
PS: Hope my parents don't get in middle of the night and cut it while sleeping can't lock the door... btw if you had any tips i'd really appreciate it thanks
Hi Grrrrr,
well, that's a start. You'll have to learn to live with stupid remarks, and if that gets difficult, just post about it and ask for advice, that's what we are here for.
By the way, lots of young men have that fear of parents coming into the room in the middle of the night to strip them of their long hair - but parents rarely if ever make good on such a threat. It would be assault to cut your hair while you sleep. If your parents ever did that to you, you should report them to the Child Welfare office of your county or city the very next morning (without telling them in advance, and, of course, without getting a "cleanup" haircut before reporting them). That way, they'd be seriously embarrassed. The child welfare people probably wouldn't take your parents away from you just because of that assault, but they'd surely scare the hell out of them and possibly implement some form of supervision over them.
However, why don't you put something behind the closed door that will fall over and cause lots of noise if the door is opened. That way, you'd wake up. Just don't talk about this little measure.
All in all, my hunch is that you are quite safe from such a parental attack. Getting drunk at parties is much more dangerous as far as hair attacks go, that's when such pranks might happen. Many fraternity houses at colleges are especially notorious. Also, stay away from parties that seem a bit weird, there have been stories about drinks laced with drugs, as you probably know.
Generally, let it grow, relax, and enjoy the new looks that you'll notice almost every month. Don't let anyone talk you out of growing your hair.
Best wishes, and lots of hair peace onto you,
Hans-Uwe
That sounds sweet dude, but let me give you some advice. I started growing my hair when I was 16 (I'm 17 now) and I remember what everyone said when I told them I'd grow it long. They all just looked at me weird and tried to convince me not to do it. All of your friends will do this to you too. If you've never had long hair before people wont be able to imagine you with it at all. AT ALL. So you're going to have to just force yourself through the comments they'll make about how bad it looks.
I've just achieved a "long" length this summer. All school year I had people telling me that stuff, and it really got to me. I started to get convinced myself that I would look crappy, but for some reason I stuck with it. Then summer came, I finally parted my hair in the middle, and it occured to me, it didn't look half bad (of course, it'll look better in 6 months or even a year, when it's gotten even longer). Now all the people that said I shouldn't grow it out are like "Woah...you actually look good like that."
So just stick with it. The awkward phase of growing long hair is especially hard in school as well.
It's nice to know that there are others out there that are about my age growing there hair out. I'm 16 and have been growing it since April 2006. I have been told many times to get my hair cut, especially by my parents. I think they have finally given up though. School wasn't as bad, but my hair was a lot shorter then. I wonder what will happen this year.
Good luck to you,
Mathew
Last time i had a hair cut was back in July 2nd 2005 , and since i am living in Egypt and i don't need to tell you how hot is it these days i have such a hard time going out with my hair long thank god i have air condition in my ca otherwise i would have had a skin head long time ago :)
god bless you all
Thanks for all the support guys and I was just joking about my parents cutting my hair off lol dont worry. As soon as I manage to get a photo I'll post it so that I can show my almost 3 month progress which is quite pathetic yet.
