hey everyone.
my name's zach. i've been growing out my hair since the end of my freshman year (April 2004). i love my hair, which is a curly mess most of the time, and am still trying to figure out a shampoo or something to get tighter curls. i don't usually wash my hair except for one every couple weeks or so. i feel that my hair is part of my identity and i never contemplate cutting it. the worst part about having long hair though (which a lot has to do with living in Tennessee) is the constant remarks or stares I get wherever I go. but other than that, I just wanted to introduce myself and chat with some long haired enthusiasts such as myself.
hey man welcome to the board! you have some awesome hair! keep it growing and don't let what people say bother you! thats some really cool growth you got there!
Hi Zach, welcome to the board!
From our other Southern US posters descriptions of long hair trials and tribulations it does not sound like a fun place to grow out :( But that makes you all the more stubborn and independent for doing so in a harsh environment and that is very cool.
Freaky pictures but entertaining too, glad you found us. We do have a chat room that is not much used here, just look for the Chat link (if you meant chat literally :) )
awesome hair!!
loving the first pic!
Heh, cool pics dude! Nice hair too! :)
Hi Zach,
that's phantastic hair, almost (?) Afro-like style! One might think that at least one of your many ancestors came from that great and mysterious (mysterious to non-Africans, that is) continent!
Good that you stick with it - and I admire and support your attitude 1000%! ("my hair is part of my identity and i never contemplate cutting it")
I know, Tennessee has lots of great people (you, for instance), but some seem to be oh so VERY conservative...
By the way, do you want your curls to be smaller or wider? In either case, you can't go wrong much by using a good conditioner for washing and a wide-tooth, African-style, comb after air-drying your hair.
One more thing: Try to socialize with some other long-hairs in real life if you can. I think this site is great, but some real-life support goes a very long way.
Best wishes, happy growth, and lots of hair-peace!
