Around the beginning of the year, I was fed up after having one awful haircut too many and just said the heck with it and decided to stop getting it cut. I've been lurking here since I started growing my hair out, and I thought it was finally getting long enough to start to contribute to the discussion a bit, so I took some pictures today. The first in my poorly photoshopped collage (I'm way too technology-retarded to figure out how to post more than one picture at a time) is me right after my last hair cut in January. The next two are frighteningly myspace-ish self-portraits I took about five minutes ago. It's kind of hard to tell, because it was still a bit wet, but my hair is currently smack in the middle of the awkward phase. Fortunately, it seems to grow pretty fast (about four inches in six months), so I think it should start looking okay and genuinely long by about the end of the year.
Do you refinish guitars as well? I see you got an unpainted guitar body. I just got done sunbursting a strat body and now I am shooting many layers of clear coat, then followed by a minimum of 2 week cure time before final sand and polish....
Technically, I've never refinished a guitar, but that's a guitar I'm in the process of making. Unfortunately, I had too much school to get it finished before the summer, so now I have to wait for it to me less humid before I can spray it. Did you use lacquer on your Strat project?
I used these products for the project... Hardware store clear lacquer (im not clear what kind of lacquer it is, I suspect its acrylic), sanding sealer (most likely nitro based on its odor), black spray paint, and amber and red alcohol based aniline dye from LMI. However the big problem is that Taiwan is extreamly humid and its hard waiting for less humid days cause everything blush like crazy. Now I got some blush on the clears and im not sure what to do, except wait it out or spray more coat (which usually eliminates blush) on a dry day...
Welcome and thank you for sharing these pics with us. Looks as if you are going to be in for a good time with your hair. Lucky! (But happy for you about faster than normal growth.)
Good luck to you in the months ahead that you are going to end-up with fabulous long hair.
Hi Bass)Guitar,
thanks for contributing your experience and picture! Long hair looks awesome on you, it suits you extremely well - and from what you write, it seems, you're finally discovering your own style. Let it grow forever, and your 2007 / 2008 updates will be phantastic!
One more thing: If you find a post that links several pictures posted elsewhere, just click "response" even if you do not post a response, and you will see the html code for "embedded" picture. Just copy and paste it AND substitute the other picture URL's with the URL's of your own pictures. Close or leave that other window without clicking "Post your message"... Hope that helps.
Happy growth forever, and lots of great concerts!
