I haven't had my hair long since the since the early 70's. (Just a hint at my age.I joke that this is my pre-retirement project.) Then it was either permed or in a long shag. I decided, a year and a half ago, that I had enough of the buzzed look. I always wanted to be able to pull my hair back in a ponytail.
Well, I'm well on my way. Unfortunately my hair grows slow and I am now suffering from the "hair blind" syndrome. Hopelfully, in a couple more months my hair will be all caught in the ponytail or at least stay behind my ears.
Having left my hair to grow on it's own, I have dicovered that I inherited my dad's blond wavy hair. So, the growing out stage has not been too "ugly". I have had a lot of "lion mane" comments, which I take as a compliment.
This process has also allowed me to practice patience. (lol)
It's great to hear all your stories.
Hi Casey and welcome. Everything you describe sounds great and I wish you continued good luck with your retirement project : ) and believe me, you are not the only one who waited to retire to do this--a few other guys here did the same thing.
Hello, I'm a woman in my early 30's, and wanted to give you a bit of encouragement. It is my belief that all men, whether very young or more mature, look good with long hair. Good luck to you, I think you will be very happy with your results! The "Lion's Mane" effect sounds impressive...I enjoy looking at all the pictures the gentlemen here have posted; I hope you will post pictures of your progress in the future.
