Howdy fellas. I'm 1.5 months haircut-free. I used to cut my hair every 2 weeks before I started to grow it out, I did this for years. I've heard that if you go from frequent cuts, to none at all, that your hair grows faster. Is there any truth to this old wives tale?
No truth in that one at all.
sadly not but good luck on your journey - hang in until you arrive.
Hi Nick,
the true part is, you will notice a LOT of change as it grows, and it will SEEM to grow a lot faster (which is good and encouraging for you, of course).
Otherwise, the root of your hair has no way of knowing what's happening at the ahir tip ;-)

Some hair salons will tell you that cutting your hair frequently makes it grow faster. The only think it makes grow faster is their monthly income!
Makes about as much sense as clipping your nails more frequently to make them grow faster. (I don't believe they'll grow any faster - hair and nails grow at the same rate whether you cut/clip them or leave them alone from what I can tell).
The only time I get my hair trimmed is if I see any damage or split ends since that can spread upwards. So far I've had two trims in three years. My hair would be nowhere near as long if I had it trimmed every 4-6 weeks as one (very short haired) hair stylist suggested.
