my hairs are much shorter at the hairline....does this mean i am balding?
also to clear a few things up ...it's the hair in the front of my hairline that's ALOT shorter then the others. in the front the of the hairline the hairs are like an inch long then if you move back like a cm the hairs are 5-6 inches long.....i'm really getting worried about this...and it's ALL the hairs in the very very front of the hairline that are short so that would scratch any resting period theory.........i'm so paranoid right now
my dad is 62 and my mom's dad died at 73....nether were or are bald really (i am 19)
Go to a dermatogolist or a local doctor man. That's the best way to know.
I second that. And also, don't be so paranoid. Just relax... you don't want it turning gray, too! :-)
Just trying to save you some grief... stressing about it (or anything!) is not healthy for you.

i've been to dermatologists about problems before (not hair related) and gotten wrong information ...and once i went to THREE different dermatologists for a skin condition i had and got THREE different answers that all contradicted each other.....and they cost too much money..i dont want to pay money to get information i dont even know is right
so i came here for free unbiased opinions.
well none of us are experts, we are more likely to be wrong. Just try and find a good dermatologist.
Miniaturization of follicles is indeed a sign/symptom of male pattern baldness, but it's not the only one. Also, it doesn't necessarily mean you're balding. It could be that you pull your hair back too tightly or just have finer hairs at the hairline (some people refer to it as "baby hairs").
Either way, don't fret. Even if you do end up losing some hair long hair's still an option. Some people pull of the balding with a ponytail look, while others use concealer products (like spray on hair, but not from Ronco), and some go for hairpieces.
I'd second the recommendation to go to a good dermatologist or trichologist, though, and see about the proven hairloss treatments (finasteride and minoxidil).
Good luck!
