Hey there fellows!
So my vacations are over now =( Well, either ways I still have two months and a half or so of holidays from school =) Now I'll take this last months before university to take my driver's license so then maybe I can go to university driving myself lol It feels really strange that I'll be 18 in less than a month but i know there won't be a change, even because I don't want to, I think everybody remains a little of a child trough all their life, or at least they should =)
About the vacations themselves, they were great =) Me and my family could rest in peace over the North of the country and still had some really cool days out of the house, going to the swimmingpool (oh my poor hair =( ) and making car trips to diferent lands of Northern Portugal =) It was really beautyfull... Than we still had a day in Spain, where we had a great launch of seafood and then a great walk by the seashore =) This was probably the best time I spent in Minho this year. Then me, my father and a cousin of mine did 26 km by foot, and we met a really cute dog that followed us home. I washed him and we gave him food and water, and he stayed all day with us. Unfortunatly when the Sun started to vanish, he went away =( I'm gonna miss him so much. We even got him a name, Bobi =) Now i can say I had a dog at least for a day... I hope everything's fine with him...
Now i have some pictures to share with you guys, I hope you like them =) They are all from landscapes so enjoy =)
This was still taken last time I was in Minho. The girl by my side is a very close friend of my family, she's calles Rafaela. I showed you some pictures of her hair before, and it is still long =) This is taken by the river Minho, and you can see Spain in the other side. It's one of the most beautyfull places I've been to...
This one was taken when we went to visit some old villages. This one is still habited, and this house you see is very antique and typicall from Minho. The landscape is outstanding =)
This one was taken close to the same place, and what you see in the background is Serra do Gerês, a very popular place for tourists here in Portugal... We were trying to visit the less popular places, which are more rural and typicall, without those modern alterations they make for tourists...
Still another landscape from Serra do Gerês...
It's kind of a shame that we were using the car and that we could only stop for a few minutes... This place would be perfect to medidate or to play the flute...
Down there you can see the river... The lady who helped us building the rout we were following told us that the people who live in the villages up there use to stay in the very top of the lands during the Summer and change to other houses built way down in the Winter... What a life =)
This is in Spain... This landscapte is really interesting... You've got lots of seafood restaurants at the bottom, the mountains of the top, and still the fisherman's port... It turned out ok... Excuse my expression tough, it was too sunny for a smille lol =)
This is a picture from the same place... You can see it is really beautyfull, we use to go there every year now, too bad it is so expensive to lunch on those restaurants, their food is simply desirable! I recomend them, 5 stars! =P
Now about my hair, I can't complain you know... I've been having lots of troubles because I still think I shed too much, and that makes me really paranoid =( Either ways, my mom and my sister thinks it is normal, and my cousing, who has waist lenght hair, complains about the same so I have to admit it really must be normal. Tough I'd like some opinions from you guys on the next update about my ponytail circumference, which I'm always thinking it is decreasing... Oh well...
I've been using a lot of the detangling and solar protecting spray because of the sun exposure and the swimmingpool days. I really can't wait for the Winter again so i can wear my hair down everytime... Beh... Oh, and I managed to buy some really interesting hair ties that are really peculiar, having diferent colours and patterns. Tough some of them may be prone to damage in the long run, so I must show them to you on my next update. About growth, I really can't say my hair is growing quick or not. For me it is always short you see... as I'm aiming for really long hair, it will always seem short at least untill mid-back or waist lenght. I don't even think about butt lenght anymore but yes about waist lenght, since I know I'll get there soon enough.
Well, I think it's all for now. I just can't wait for the 23rd month update =) And even more for the 2 years update, I'm really excited, it seems just yesterday it was the first year and now I'm so close of the second year... time flies =)
Thank's for reading fellows, I hope you liked the pictures =) Happy growing, and long hair forever!!!
Wow, what to say!?!
Those pictures of Iberia's natural landscape are stunningly beautiful. Along with your description of each one, I feel like I am taking a virtual tour of the places. You could write a tourist guide for your country no doubt ;-) I suppose that part of Spain you visited is Galicia? Probably you did not have much problem with the Galician dialect?
Of course your hair is looking great as well as your sister's and your friend's. I imagine with just limited exposure to the sun and surf, that you will be fine as far as getting any damage. I was actually at the beach (the opposite side of the Atlantic from you) a month ago or so, and my hair seemed to feel better after having been in the sea water and then washed.
You are right, time does fly, and you will soon have reached your goal. Remember though that getting there to your goal is fun too!
Well, on the driving test, I wish you luck. And, be sure to be careful driving at all times.
Obrigado pelo 'update'(atualização?) e até logo, Bragi
...and your hair looks great as well.
Congratulations and good luck with learning how to drive.
Awesome!
Beautiful countryside.
But yeah, the shedding is pretty normal. I shed like crazy.
Hello,
Thank you for sharing those great pictures. You mentionned about shedding hair. When I was 17, I was starting to grow my hair for the first time (and successfully), and I did shed a lot of hair each time I showered. This is normal, you normally shed like 160 hairs a day, and when it is short, it doesnt show so much. When it is long, it is more evident. Now at 47, I still have a full head of hair (Thanks to my genetics), and I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. At some times you may seem to shed more hair than at other times but it is normal. A hair lives about two to three years before falling out by itself and it is usually replaced by a new one.
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
Just gorgeous João - the landscapes and your hair! I think it's a great combination to have long hair pics taken with great backdrops like that. It looks like you had a wonderful time.
I also worry about shedding from time to time. I seem to be doing a lot lately but I think we probably notice it more because we've never really had long hair before and only now are we realizing the extent that long shed hairs show up. Your hair is sooo thick, I wouldn't worry.
Have you ever measured the circumferance of your ponytail with all your hair in it? I'd be curious to know if it's over four inches in which case you'd be categorized as a 'iii' - the thickest category.
thanks so much for sharing the photos--it is wonderful to see photos of far away places taken by real people with real people in them instead of postcard type pictures. I also like very much the international participation of the message board.
Liked? They were magnificent!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing those breathtaking photos of your trip. Glad you had such a good time. And of your own hair? A+++++++++++++
Wow amazing pictures, looks like you got to enjoy some very beautiful places. I remember back when you were growing your hair, and now its this long; it makes me really sad i cut mine at 25 months =(
Great pictures! Its so nice to see beautiful landscapes and backgrounds along with your updates. Thanks.
I've had long hair on and off, all my life, and I, at one time also worried about the hair in the drain. I'm 51 now, and I think I still have a good head of hair. I wouldn't worry, your hair looks very healthy.

.
Cool pics! Your hair seems very nice and I'd say you wouldn't have to be grumpy for its length cuz it's definitely long (well maybe not long enough but it will get there)=}
I'd like to go to Spain someday, it's a very liberal and please country with open-minded fellows :D Glad you had a good time there and how come you have two months and a half till school starts... Mine starts on 15th September (screwed up again lol)
I would very much like an opportunity to visit Europe myself someday.
Glad you enjoyed your vacation!

Hi João,
your hair is as great as always - and still getting better. I also love the landscapes you showed us, it makes me want to travel to northern Portugal, before it is discovered by mass tourism. Glad you had such a great time!
Have a great summer, and good luck with your studies in the fall!
Hans-Uwe
What a lovely set of pictures of an even lovelier world. The bit about wanting to meditate or play the flute on the rock overlooking the valley - that touched me. I really wanted to go there, lol. What a peaceful piece of the world. Even the city has a quaint, peaceful look to it.
Your hair looks great as ever. To me it looks especially cool when you're sitting on the rock. Very befitting of you.
Your sister looks as happy as ever. :)
Thanks for the pics!
Peace
Hi João,
Those are absolutely splendid photographs! What an extravagantly beautiful part of the world you live in!
Good luck with school and getting a driving license!
As far as the worries about the pony-tail go, I wouldn't fret about is all that much -- it wil do what it can. If you do decided to worry, at least measure it periodically; that way you can be *certain* instead of guessing. ;-)
