Hey guys, time for another update. Lately I haven't been as interested in hair cause of ongoing health concerns but today I felt like posting a few pics anyway.
another pic
Very cool, man. I think this pic shows best how suitable your hair is to your face. Slowly but surely, you're getting there.
I was hoping for a ponytail pic, but of course it's more important that your health improves than posting an extra pic. I wish you a swift and as-painless-as-possible recovery.
Oh, and it's always astonishing how great people's hair can look even when they're not prioritizing caring for it. Makes you wonder. Your hair looks great - maybe a lot of us concern ourselves a bit too much with working out every kink (pun semi-intended, lol) in our follicles.
Thanks for sharing these.
Peace
Thanks so much, it does seem to be slowly to me, see my reply to Justins above on that issue.
Its not that the extra pic is too much trouble, its that I can't do a tail yet :( , you're not the only one hoping for a tial pic :) Hopefully soon..
You might be right but I would rather be in the mood to care for it, its a lot better than feeling blah. Being able to spend energy on something like hair means things are going well :) Today I am doing better as you can see from my frequent posting again :) Hope it lasts
14 months hey Ponytail sure aint far away thats for sure its hit your shoulders in your pictures so its very near..
Sun so bright there as your eyes aint open very much same here !!!
Take Care

Wow! What length did you start from to get hair that long in 14 months, its almost as long as mine at 23 Months.
Well unlike many people here I didnt grow out from a buzzcut or bald. Just started from a boring old normal just above the ears bangs at eyebrow level mens haircut :) The kind you never even notice.
But thanks!
Hey Chris. With your straight hair all your growth really shows and I notice a big difference. It looks to be in fantastic condition and looks so manageable like with the look of it tucked behind your ears.
I'm sorry to hear of your health concerns and I know exactly what you mean about not having the same level of interest in hair. That is what happened to me in the Spring. I found it best to just care for it as well as you can and not overly concentrate on it as you care for your more pressing health concerns.
As your health improves, I can almost guarantee that your interest and appreciation for your hair will also return. The added benefit is that it will have grown during this time.
Take care and get well soon!
Jason
Thanks for your support Jason. Yeah there have been days I was so depressed I didn't even want to look in the mirror. I couldn't bear to see longhair and depression on the same face, it is just so wrong. Lately its been more of just a lack of interest in hair, but I am slightly more interested today, hence the posts. I hope all gets better still.
Chris,
Your hair looks awesome!!! You should be at tail length anytime now. I hope you feel better too.
Hope all is well,
ESDI
Hi Chris,
So sorry to hear of your health concerns. I hope you get well SOON!
I have a medical condition as well, that I prefer not talking much about, which can zap my energy at times. Understandably, one's health has to be in the #1 spot, with hair way down there in importance... The good news, though, is that I've always found it fun whenever I do feel in better health, to wake up to the surprise of how much my hair has grown during the times I didn't care to pay it much attention.
In your case, your hair seems to grow amazingly FAST!!! It is a very thick & full head of hair, too, and looks hands-down *fantabulous*!!!!
Take Care,
Ken
Oh man thats terrible Ken, I had no idea. Course thats always the way it is. But this is a very real place this board and we do learn lots of real things about each other here. I have been struggling with some very long term health issues that at their worst cause me to lose interest in many things, including long hair. But I am struggling and trying new things and I am not giving up!
looking a bit tired man! Awsome growth tho
Yeah I know, but today was one of my better days! At least I posted :) And thanks, I hope to be more active (here nad in genreal) again soon
Lookin' good !! I have always liked your "highlights"
Take Care of yourself...
Walter White Tail
Thanks Walter, I kind of like having a unigue feature, and everybody thinks they look cool so I actually enjoy them too now, the power of positive brainwashing :)
Wow Chris!
Your hair is magnificent!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you ever come a long way. I had no idea of what you had achieved until I just saw the photos. Super great hair.
Sorry about health concerns, but when things like these come up I think it is normal to lose interest in things. When the health is better interest in things returns.
Wishing you well and able soon to appreciate the significent gain in long hair you have made. And it IS significent and looks great! :-)
Justin~
Thank you so much Justin, you know one of the oddest things I have noticed regarding my mood and hair is this. Since I started growing out my hair I had been taking some vitamins that were supposed to help with growing hair, now I know that many people say they are a waste of time and money but I figured it was worth it to try it out. If they helped some in a years time then I would be ahead of the game and if they didnt help well then I didnt lose that much. But what is wierd is that sometimes for many days I dont feel well and or just dont care about my hair so much and I dont take the vitamins for days.
Odd thing is that I feel that my hair seems to grow faster on those days and others have remarked it too, like my hair grows better without the vitamins.
It sounds crazy but I think I should just stop them even if I cant explain it. Many people have had much more growth than I in 1 year and now i think I may have hurt my progress though it sounds impossible. How can a vitamin hurt the progress?
Well I think Im going off the bottle at last lol, see what nature does...
Hi Chris,
I'd avoid vitamin A, selenium, iron (unless you're iron deficient) and excess doses of iodine. And, I wouldn't take them every day. Twice a week seems plenty in my experience.
Best wishes,
Hans-Uwe
Christ, your gray accents are awsome. I am envious.
However, I wish you would share with us your health concerns. There is always the possibility that someone could help. Justntoday a friend of me sent me an outline of all the responses to diagnosed prostate cancer, and the decisions he had reached in tresponse to this diagnosis. He surely did his homework, and has an action plan.
If anyone blames you for your health status, they are perverse. None of us know the consequences of all the decisions we make, and surely not retrospectively. We can only claim responsibility as we go forward.
I wish you good health, and hope that you will allow others of like minded concern to share your burden in so far as that is possible.
James
Hi James, thanks for the compliments on the hair :)
Well its not that anybody blames me for anything health wise, its just a huge problem in and of itself but since you asked, here is a quick summary: (now going way off topic warning!)
For many years I have had an infection in my digestive system of some fungus called candida, something that normally lives in healthy people but can be a huge problem if gets out of control. Taking antibiotics for an extended time causes an imbalance in your system by its killing off healthy bacteria in the gut, allowing this normally nominal candida to gain the upper hand. Effects of this happening are physical weakness and mental effects like depression and inability to concentrate.
One way to control this problem is to change your diet so as to starve the candida by not eating most carbohydrates. Unfortunately doing that also starves my body as well, resulting in even more depression :(. Controlling what I ate never worked well. But just very recently I have tried a medicine to kill this fungus so that I don't have to starve myself. Don't know how long this will last but right now it seems to be helping some. But it is not a final solution as this stuff is notoriously hard to get rid of. But I will take this one step at a time for now.
Well that was probably more than you wanted to know :)
Hi Chris, I have heard about candida albicans. It is a fungus that normally lives in our guts, and is usually benign. Long term antibiotic use can cause it to invade your entire body. I think there is a medicine called Nystatin (If I remember correctly) for treating this.
If you are no longer on antibiotics, you may want to eat yogurt to restore friendly bacteria. You can also get these friendly bacteria in capsule form at a health food store. There may also be some kind of specific candida cleanse product at your health food store as well. Ask you doctor if this is safe to do. Hopefully you can resolve this soon and have good health again.
Absalom
Hi Absalom,
Well the Nystatin is what I am taking right now and it does seem to be helping (as you can see from my frequent posting again)
I have a few bottles of acidophilus but havent started taking them yet, I am trying to limit the variables that I am changing at the moment.
But you are right on it, seems you know a lot of things about a lot of things Scott, you always amaze me :)
Chris,
Candida help.
I was reading through the messages and noticed your post about
candida, I did some research and found this info about treatments and thought that I would pass it on to you.

The top 2 links are about a product called ThreeLac that kinda sounds too good to be true, but you never know :)
Hope it helps, nice hair by the way :) I will be signing up on this board soon, I just have to get a pic of me first. And also I am definitly interested in a HB tee shirt :)
I have been reading posts for 3 weeks now and have learned a lot so far.
Take care of yourself,
Chris (that is my name also)
Chris... your hair is looking exceptional!! Specially in the back.
Sorry to hear about your health issues. May you get them under control and conquer them!
--Rick
Thanks Rick for the compliments.
I don't usually take and have never posted a pic from the back before but I liked this one. I always have to take many pics to get any I am not totally embarrassed by :)
I seem to have found something that is at least helping my symptoms if not fixing the problem. One thing at a time. You can always tell how I am feeling since my time posting on the board seems to be directly proportional to my overall health and mood :)
Great progress. You have made it this far and I advise you to keep it growing it will look better and better as time goes by. I have often heard the less you think about your hair the better it looks.
One of the reasons I decided to grow my hair was due to health reasons, back in early 2004 I had chemotherapy that caused me to loose my hair it was short at the time and I hated how I looked with no hair. After it grew back and one cut later I decided to grow my hair. I have been growing since December 2004. I know problems with your health can make you depressed but as time goes by it will be only a distant memory and that also depends on the problem. Sorry for the rant but keep up the progress and things will be better.
I am glad you also decided to grow out. I first started to grow out last year cause I had had a break in feeling bad thanks to some supplements I was taking (see my response to James' post). Well they seemed to stop working after awhile and I tried other things but nothing much helped and I slid backwards again. Now I am trying another medicine that seems to help some.
Thanks again!
Hi Chris,
thanks for the update, you look great, and your hair is growing nicely! Your terminal length definitely exceeds mine, lol (but, looking at Bruce Gallagher's graceful posts, I won't whine, but be grateful for being spared the curse of MPB :-)
I hope your hair will keep it growing forever, and, all the best to you health-wise!
Hans-Uwe
Oh no!, you really have a treminal length that is shorter than my hair now? That's terrible if so. That sure doesn't seem right to me, I suppose you would know though. My sympathies :(
Thanks for the compliments though, you are always one ready with a kind word of encouragement and we all need that sometimes :)
Hi Chris,
thanks for your sympathies! There's never much "justice" in nature - so, I've a habit of appreciating long hair not only on myself, but also on others - that way, I do keep my mental balance and my "hair happiness" :-) even though there is not much sense in me posting "progress pics"...
Greeting and sympathies to all others with a terminal length of less than one meter (~40") ! Be proud of your body & hair anyways!
Encouraging those who can grow it longer but are perhaps hesitant, gives me a sense of satisfaction... At least, the times where my environment tried to push hair rules on me are long gone. And, it's true, I'm grateful for what i have, considering the fact that other males in my family are a lot worse off :-)
And, it's good that this board encourages all men who can grow their hair long to go for it :-)
Best wishes, and happy growth all the way to your ankles!
Hans-Uwe
Hi, ChrisG,
I hope you are feeling better and continue to mend quickly. Your hair is looking great of course, and so straight and manageable. So lucky you are!
Bragi
Thanks Bragi,
I seem to have found something that helps some so I hope to be more active on the board again :)
Nice progress for 14 months. And I won't cut mine...Thanks!
Thanks for the compliment Vat, onward and downward!
Hi Chris glad to see you around again on this great board as I know a lot of the regulars noticed your absence. Thanks too for posting the latest pics of your hair as I can say its looking great and will only get better.Nice highlights as well as I've been noticing the same happening to my hair as it seems to come with age I guess.LOL.Really hate to hear about your difficulties regarding your health as I hope things rapidly get better for you as I can imagine how things like that can drag you down but you seem too strong of a person to let it get the best of you.Just keep the faith and be positive as thats half the battle.Always enjoy reading your comments to other board members as you are an asset to the team! Take care and looking forward to the next set of pics!Mark
Thank you very very much Mark! but now I am going to have to live up to your high praise :) Just reading your post shows what I love the most about this board, its not the shampoo advice, its the strong sense of community here. I hate being away for so long.
I hope you can learn to enjoy the highlights as they appear in your hair too. That is one of the many thigs I got from here, not only acceptance from so many people saying they liked the grey but now I enjoy it for real. The power of positive brainwashing (TM), it can work for you too lol!
Hey Chris, your hair looks great, and is growing very fast, despite having health issues. The white streak looks very cool and should have a striking appearance when you hair gets really long. Keep growing it, and get well.
Absalom
Thank you very much Absalom,
I was just reminded of when I first posted a pic here and how encouraging you were then and how those compliments meant so much to a total newbie coming from a hair god such as yourself!
Well its still just as true today :) Thanks again!
Chris, your hair is looking great, really full, and boy has it grown!!
I really hope you are feeling better soon, take care, Dave.
Thank you very much Dave, I really appreciate the compliment and the good wishes (can never have enough of those :) )
So let us grow, onward and downward!
Hi Chris:
Well, you most definitely look healthy and happy in your photos. Your hair is beautiful! And you're a handsome man, too. I'm sorry to hear that you have been having health concerns; I wish you the best and brightest outcome.
And thanks for posting your pics.
dino
Thanks a lot Dino, fortunately the last few days since the weekend I have been feeling better and since have been posting away again :) Its amazing how my mood can change so quickly day to day, but I recognize that so even when I don't care so much about hair and other things I know the interest will return so I just wait it out. Those are the days I feel like I am just taking care of hair for somebody else :)
that looks awesome. cant wait til it gets longer. good luck.
