I'm a 20 year old college student, and I've been growing out my hair for a few years now. It's a good ways down my back at this point, and I've grown pretty tired of the standard ponytail look.
I'd really like to try a new look, maybe something with braids. I've experimented a little with it, but my main problem is there isn't much information out there for masculine long-hair styles. When I google it, most of the male long-hair styles are barely down to the tips of their ears. That obviously won't cut it for me. Could any of you guys direct me to a website that would feature masculine hair styles with directions on how to go about doing them? Also, would any of you have tips on where to buy (again) masculine hair products, such as small clear rubber bands or other ways of holding and styling my hair? Obviously the pink little ribbons at the local Wal-Mart aren't going to cut it.
Thanks,
--Alex
Their expensive, but look masculine.
Tail cuffs
They can also be ordered from Mystic Caravan (slightly less, also order over the Web). I think I answered a similar question recently, with some other links.
Besides the basic ponytail, braids and half-ups (braided or not) are pretty acceptable. A banded ponytail is another option.
Pretty much any drug store or beauty supply store will (or should) have clear/black/brown elastics and other hair toys.
Have a look at Jason's website and this thread. He offers a nice line in braids.
