I've only been growing my hair for nine months and I've got a long way to go I know. But it feels really good somehoe. Do you guys agree that long hair makes you feel kind of complete somehow - while having it short and cut like I always have before makes you feel kind of less. Do you know what I mean? Its a bit new to me this - and maybe some will think this is a bit obvious - but its exciting for me anyhow.
I know what you're talking about! I'm also about 9 months into long hair (last cut Oct '05). The awkward stage doesn't bother me. In fact I enjoy hair in my face, reminding me that it is growing long. I think for those of us that enjoy that feeling, long hair is our destiny. For those that are bothered by the way it feels, eventually cut it short.
Happy growing,
Bruce
Nah, I agree with you - having longer hair really makes me feel different, and in a better way. It somehow makes you feel like more of a part of the universe, like as your hair grows down, so do your roots to past civilizations and worlds. You feel closer to Nature, more confident about yourself, happier, more at peace. At the very least, you'll feel like you're seeing a new side of yourself, and you might like this side a lot more than the one you've been in all those years. Long hair is often a spiritual symbol, and growing out your hair somehow makes you feel more connected to whatever's out there - or at least, that's what it's done for me. Maybe it's just hair, and these are just coincidences, but who knows?
Keep enjoying growing it out, dude.
You're right there!
Growing your hair long, and having it long, makes you grow as a person, and also prolongs your body... It's incredible as you notice when your hair finally stretches to places you never tought it would... =)After all, long hair is a natural human being characteristics, and cutting it is like cutting the feathers of a peacock, the tail of a wolf, or the wings of a bird... I wish you the best luck growing your hair out =)
Wow - thanks that really gets to what I mean. That's a real fine way to describe it. Never thought that before. It is our natural state.
Thanks guys
I also have to agree that Fallen Angels said it really well. I have found that self-contentment, confidence, and the "connecting" he speaks about are all true; it does change your outlook somewhat. I have found that I really like the "kindred spirit" feeling often expressed among people both on this board and in person; it's like having an additional benefit to life that many others just don't have.
