I have a problem, i seem to go through 2 seperate awkward phases when growing my hair, the 1st i when my fringe is coming down past my eyes, and the second (which im in now) is when my fringe is going from the end of my nose to my mouth, i have been growing now for 10 months and this is the point when i am most annoyed with my hair....
the sides and back flick upwards and the fringe begins to look like i have a mullet!!!
Any tips and suggesstions, u guys have???
cheers

The best tip is to be patient. As your hair grows out, the flips will become less and less. Your hair will also become fuller and the mullet effect will also lessen. In the meantime you can use gel when you want better control.
A Lamb of God fan? Even though Sacrament was a bit of a disappointment....any way, your hair is actually all the same length, though it appears to be in mullet stage....the back of your hair just appears longer since it grows from the nape of your neck. For it to be "even" the front hairs actually have to be longer than the back. So....wait til ALL hair touches your shoulder and have it evened out with a trim.
Ha, yeah.. sucks doesn't it? Not much you can really do but wait it out man. I don't think you are experiencing a "2nd awkward phase"... especially since there is only like an inch of difference in hair length according to what you described. There's only one awkward phase... and it's long, and it sucks, and you just gotta deal with it. A lot of people have trims and stuff to "control" the AP... but in reality you can't control the awkward phase... IT controls YOU! (or... it can if you let it get to you too much). So , don't worry about the whole mullet rubbish. A mullet is when your hair is SHORT on top, and LONG at the base of the neck and some of the back head. If that is what your hair looks like, then yes, I'm afraid you have a mullet. If not, then there's not much to worry about.

I know how you feel... just several months ago I had finished my own awkward phase, and feel quite relieved.
You need to be patient, yes, but there are some things that can ease up things for you. You can use gel, but I for some reason feel very unwelcoming towards it. When I was in my own awkward phase, I bought a rubber half-band and a cap, and those helped a lot.
I wore a cap only when I went somewhere outside, so I would look relatively normal instead of showing a black nest of hair on my head. As for the band, I used it at home only, and instead of wearing it over the top of my head, I wore it over my forehead so I would put less pressure on the hair root. Another privilege of wearing it like that is that you look like Conan XD
My hair took about a year to fully emerge from awkward phase. You're so close you can even smell it. Don't let your annoyance force you to cut it. You'll feel sorry.
