I was wondering if smoking can cause some type hair loss...I've heard that it can but I don't know if its temporary or not. I used to be a former long hair, grew it for about 2.5 years. Ever since I buzzed it I noticed that I have a light spot on the top section of my head where my scalp is noticebly visible. It seems like the hair there is less dense than anywhere else on my head...and it was never that way before when I had grown my hair out.
I want to know if smoking can be the cause of it or if it could have been because I had long hair..and maybe lost alot of hair that just never grew back. Also, I started smoking around the time where I was about 5 months into my hair growth which was some where back in 2003.
Another thing I want to mention is that I have cousins who are also former long haired men and they sort of have the same problem but you can barely notice it unline mine. Ive had several friends give me comments about it and its really starting to bother me. My cousins by the way werent smokers, which sort of leads me to believe that maybe having long hair sort of cause it.
Has anyone experienced this or have answers? Also, we used to have our hair braided in corn rows quite often, so can that be it? I really hope im not going bald. Anyways, I hope you people can help me out with this, thanks.
My very own Father smoked 4 packs of cigarettes a day his entire life and lived to the age of 79 when a sudden Heart Attack got him and he died in my arms. At the time of his death there was a very small bare spot on the back of his head less than the size of a dime. So, in his case terribly excessive smoking all his life apparently had no effect on his hair. Perhaps it is a Genetic thing mostly in some cases? Of particular interest is the fact that my Father also did ALL the things one is told they shouldn't do in regards to diet and never got any exercise. Despite all of this, he holds the record in my familys history as having the OLDEST life-span to date while the others were doing the "right things" but for the most part died quite a bit younger.
Try and figure that one out. Sure beats me.
your long hair was really sweet! any progress pics of your latest effort?
