I'm hoping we can find a day when Ken, Rick G, Dino95126, Trolleypup, and any other participants from this board that want to join in. I'd love to have some time beforehand for photos in the park so a weekend afternoon might be better than a weeknight. What do you guys think?

I'm going to do my schedule for the next month (that includes vacation time) shortly, so I'll have a better idea later today or tomorrow. Weekends, if I am in town are good.
All former teasing aside, I think it sounds like a great idea! I am right in the process of helping my b/f move from So. Calif to SF, though (he just got a job offer to move up here, which I am of course, thrilled to pieces about!!)... Moving date isn't until the 2nd weekend in Sept.; but this doesn't mean I don't have an overwhelming amount of things to do beforehand, due to the fact that he is moving in with me!
That having been said, if others are available later this month, most likely I can fit in eating, too (Lord knows I love love LOVE to eat!!), --- so best not to work around my schedule in particular, since I do a juggling act of gardening jobs, a part-time cooking/ Kitchen Manager job, and occasionally teaching dance lessons... (Yes, even *I* have difficulty dealing with my schedule!)
Weekends are usually the best for me, because I frequently have less commitments then; except that Sunday night is "sacred" dancing night for me - lol! (If I go for more than a week without getting to go dancing, I get very grumpy!)
Feel totally free to e-mail me privately, and I will reply back. But at least these details given here give you something to go with...
Thanks!
- Ken
Count me in! Always glad to meet up with the Hyperboard gang!
(So long as I don't have to cross any bridges. Have come to hate bridges. That they were designed to handle the traffic we had when Reagan was governor may have more than a little bit to do with that....)
Bill
I'm sure it will be lots of fun, too bad there's no one near me from the hyperboard =( Oh well =) Hope you have fun in there, and looking forward to see those pictures =D
You're more than welcome to join us! The hard part is getting here. :( I wish it were possible for all of us here at MLHH to get together. That'd be really cool!
--Rick
Hey I would have loved to do that despite the fact that I am not a sushi fan! Hope you all have fun!
Hey Elizabeth are you coming back for Maryland's RenFest again, would love to do that again this year with you :)
Is 1600 miles on the new Harley to far to go for good sushi?I think not.Especialy with good company. The problem is time. And money.I haven't been to SF since 1975.I was coming home from the Philipines.Had a buzz cut at the time curtacy of the USAF.
Have fun,take lots of pics,
Arrick
1600 miles on any motorcycle's fine with me! :)
--Rick
P.S. Nice hair, Arrick!
Would that be 1600 miles of fun roads, or 1600 freeway miles? Either way, Ebisu is worth it.
They have a branch at the airport, and the last time I went to London, I stopped there on the way out AND the way back.
Weekend afternoons are MUCH better for me than any other time. Weeknights are generally a problem, between band rehearsals, gigs, and driving up to SF after work. Photos beforehand would be GREAT!
If sushi and flying didn't both make me sick, I'd love to spend my vacation out there. I'll be taking some time off real soon. The next time I'm "between jobs" I've promised myself a nice long road trip, so I'm sure I'll see CA some day. Lousy steady job! :)
Ebisu is perfectly capable of and happy to accomodate pretty much any dietary preference or restriction, so you can't use that as an excuse.
Road trips are great, but sadly they take far more time than flying. Have you tried Amtrak?
I rode on Amtrak from Charlottesville, VA to NYC one time. Regular trains stop way too much. On the last leg of that trip (to Washington, DC) we took the Metroliner (much cooler name than Acela, I think). It stopped just long enough to swap baggage and passengers--very efficient.
In the East Coast Megalopolis (DC to Boston) trains are great.
I don't think I could deal with a regular Amtrak train long haul. I've driven to Pittsburgh in under 5 hours, but the running time for Amtrak is listed as 9, IIRC. The regular trains sit idle in the station for a really long time sometimes. On the way to NYC, we idled in an underground station for 45 minutes, it was too hot, and I couldn't get off because I had no idea when it would start moving again. So, as much as I hate cars, it's roadtripping across or nothing at all.
If only we subsidized passenger rail as much as we subsidize cars. Sigh...
Speak up here if you can make Saturday, August 26. A Sunday Aug. 27 lunchtime meet could work too. If we need more time to get our happy band together then we can try late September dates.
Chris, I'm dragging Bill Dear to Maryland for Labor Day weekend and the RenFest is on the to-do list, second only to ring shopping. :-D
Steve, if flying makes you sick then you could use sick leave for your visit. Maybe.
João David and Arrick, I bet somebody in the group has a picture taking cellphone and could send a live shot to a board member at home and get it posted almost live. Certainly there will be photos shared here after the fact.
Huge congratulations, Ken! I'm so happy for you and Even! It will be a treat to see Trolleypup again and meet you, Rick, Bill C. and Dino for the first time.
Elizabeth
Sorry, Elizabeth (and everyone else)... it's about time I got around to responding! I'm taking a trip to Yosemite the weekend of the 26th/27th, so I wouldn't be able to make it. :-( If it's on for sure, I'm sorry I'll have to miss it -- good excuse to have another one though, eh? :-)
dino95126
Anytime on Sunday, the 27th, would work fine for me. I'm playing a gig early Saturday night and wouldn't like it if I had to cut out early in order to drive back here for the gig. I have no time constraints on Sunday. More time to have more fun!
--Rick
I can do the 26th or 27th. The last two weekends in September, and the first weekend in October are out for me.
Or maybe not, I may be out of town this weekend. Plans are pending at the moment.
I'll wait to hear back from you but since you are the heart of Ebisu for me I'd want to save getting together at that location until you are available. The rest of us can decide to meet elsewhere or not on Aug. 26th or 27th after we hear if you can make it or not.
Elizabeth
That sounds fine with me, Elizabeth. I'll still leave Sunday, the 27th open. If we decide to postpone getting together to a later date, I'll probably still go up to SF anyway. Great place to hang out!
Take care!
--Rick
As of now, I'll be out of town both Saturday and Sunday, sorry.
I'm still interested for Sunday then, Rick. Since we're no longer tied to the Golden Gate Park area is there anywhere you have in mind? The park still works too, free admission meet locations are always the best.
Elizabeth
Golden Gate Park sounds like good place to meet. I've just booked a gig with a band for Sunday evening at 7 but that still leaves the morning and afternoon open! You're right... free admission meets are always the best!
Take care,
--Rick
Best laid plans and all...
My weekend plans fell through, and I'll be going out of town on Monday/Tuesday instead. so I'll see you at all at All You Kneed, and if we drag the afternoon out, we could always end up at Ebisu.
Lemme help you rewrite that. *When* we drag the afternoon out we *will* end up at Ebisu.
It's got my vote, Elizabeth!
--Rick
It's a bit frigid on that side of town this time of year, but we could shoot for early afternoon when it's warmest. I'm game!
There's a restaurant called "All You Knead" on the north side of Haight just east of Ashbury which offers a variety of tasty and healthful fare. Shall we meet there at noon Sunday for lunch, and then head for the park afterwards? That would land us in the park in early afternoon, and in the warmest end of the park as well. Shall we!
Bill
Thanks for knowing the area, Bill. The food sounds ideal and the location most appropriate for a bunch of longhairs.

Hi Elizabeth and All,
I just wrote down Sunday afternoon in my calendar. Unless I get an emergency call from the nursing home kitchen I supervise, I will be there. I'm glad you changed the day to Sunday, as Sat. is a dance I want to go to (and I ain't "Urban Cowboy" if I don't behave like the dance-aholic that I am)!
Looking forward to the meet-up!
- Ken
Committed on the 26th already. 27th would work.
