Hi all!
The fantastic Logo we now have atop our main page and elsewhere within the site has been met with unbelievable response. So much so, that the thought of having T-Shirts made available for a limited time to all members at a very modest sum has been much in discussion by the Moderators.
The illustration you see is an example of the "alternative design" of our Logo as created for us by Luckskind. (In addition, something really neat is has been considered for wording on the back of the shirt.) I can assure you all however at this point, that with the abilities of Luckskind, what is finally arrived at will be nothing short of a masterpiece! The artist is a genius. You would end up with a completely original T-Shirt not available anywhere else in the entire world that would be so unique as to be absolutely unbelievable!
The moderators are counting on this Poll to determine if such a project should be persued. Your input is very important and will be most appreciated.
Rest assured that this is in no way a "make a big profit" deal by us in the slighest. Hardly. (Perhaps many of you are not aware that the Hyperboard costs to keep the site up and running for all of you to enjoy are currently because of Moderator donations only?) If any profits were to occur, they would be used to assure that this very special site continues running for your benefit. An ALL WIN situation for sure! :-)
So please, let us know...........yes or no.
Thanks ever so much.
Justin~
Hi Justin, it looks great to me. I may even want to add tiedye colours to mine.
Absalom
That's a great idea!
Yes..........
I would like one if they are available to ship to Australia. I am happy to pay the shipping costs on top of the T-shirt price. I think it would be great way to advertise the board worldwide.
Yes.
Very good idea.
NO QUESTIONS ASKED, JUST GO-AHEAD !!!
Would love to have one in my wardrobe too.
Fantastic looking shirt ... count me in as willing to purchase one.
Karsten
Yes, but honestly, the t-shirt here doesn't appeal to me very much. Maybe an all black t-shirt? Something more subtle? Some ideas (Just MY ideas, I wish I knew where and how to make t-shirts)
-'grow' on the front, 'MLHH' on the back, near the neck. Only the longhairs on here would only know what it means. But how about a '.org' to rid out the exclusive element. More longhairs are good.
blahh..I have more, but I would like to know where and how to make t-shirts. I would gladly make my shirt for myself.
So...MLHH t-shirt? yeahh!
you can also order your own bumber stickers if you wish. You could order one that says for example, "Want Long Hair? www.mlhh.org"
they'll make up bumber stickers with whatever you want on them.
All kinds of other possibilities:
"Free your hair: www.mlhh.org"
"Liberate yourself: www.mlhh.org"
"Get your head back: www.mlhh.org"
i think its cool.....once i consider myself a longhair im wearing one of these :P
OK I'll ask the obvious question.....has the copyright holder
of the logo given his/her permision for the T-shirt? Also does
the person in the logo have to give his permission to use his
image?
Yes. All rights were signed over to us free and clear. It was the artists gift to us for our sole use in appreciation of the Hyperboard.
No. "The person" you see is no one in particular. He is an image-creation conceived by the artist using oils as well as Water Colors.
Because some of you may not like white shirts (for whatever reasons), these examples have been submitted for your consideration.
DISCLAIMER: This is JUSTIN's POLL, and I am in NO WAY connected with it. But for the sake of having a more 'accurate' poll, other colors should be seen.
These images DO NOT represent the actual shirts which may look considerably different from those presented here.
BROWN (this guy is beginning his Long Hair Journey!)
RED (wearing it proudly)
WHITE (classic white)
BLACK (popular color with many)
How about tie dyes? Absalom could do it for those who cant do it themselves...
The logo on the web site is fine because it's "preaching to the choir." When others would see it on a T-shirt, I would think they would think it had something to do with Jesus and think that I'm some denomimation of Christian. (Since I'm not religious, I certainly don't want that.)
While I certainly also like beards, my suggestion is to use a logo of a guy wihout one because, to short-hairs, every man with long hair and a beard looks like Jesus.
And to many people, longhaired people without facial hair are seen at first glance as female, and T-shirts often just get a glance. Facial hair on the picture makes our being a men's group clear.
Besides, the logo is made, so the man on it will be the one shown.
Bill
Obviously it is GRAY to match the color of the Hyperboard. When the Logo is reproduced on a white shirt, for example, it will appear as a gray rectangle.
Now, should this be a 'problem,' I could redo the background and make it white. (It would take a bit of work, but it could be done).
Then again, if the Logo is reproduced on ANY OTHER COLOR, the rectangle will once again appear.
(Unfortunately, the Logo does not have a transparent background which would have been ideal for shirts of ALL colors. Oh well).
that this is a "general" Poll so that the Moderators will know "if" there is enough interest in a MLHH Logo T-Shirt. If we find that there is, at that point we will further discuss this venture and will be looking at all kinds of options. A simple yes or no answer (as well as a short explaination if desired) is all that is necessary. Thanks guys.

YES!!!!
Wording on the back? No-one would see it! Of course, you could have "if you can read this my hair's too short"!
OK, I didn't read all the posts, and that is pretty much what it says on the back.
That is good too!
thts an awsome idea
YES, YES, YES
How about a line, halfway down, that says, "If you can read this, my hair is too short."
Ooops! I suppose I should have read all the replies first.
I personally would not wear a shirt like that... I think it's a clever idea, but the thought of parading yourself around with a shirt of mlhh just sort of makes you look silly... Like it's a fan club or something. Sure, it would get the word out to other long haired men... or would it just make them think it's lame? Regardless, I prefer to be treated like a normal human being, and not like a strange "equal rights" nut case. Like gay people "showing their colors" with bright flags and bracelets and peace stickers... I don't quite understand why we need to see their colors. Same thing with the shirt: you have the hair, why need the shirt?! Doesn't your hair alone say enough? I have long hair, I don't personally wish to call tons of attention to my long hair (more then it does on it's own of course), and I don't desire to have a 'club' attitude/atmosphere for the mlhh. This is a community - not a gang. Therefore my vote is No.
-Ardroth
I thought it. You said it. Thanks.
--Steve
Yes, you do have a point.
"The moderators are counting on this Poll to determine if such
a project should be persued." ~Justin
Ardroth said that he would not want to wear such a shirt for the various reasons stated.
We are all different--individuals--and free to express ourselves any way we like.
It is NEVER a good thing to go against your own personal beliefs
as that will only serve to make us feel uncomfortable--or worse
yet--self-conscious! And who needs that?!
I think this whole vote is about whether or not the Logo shirt
should be OFFERED to those who would like to own one.
That's all.
Yes! The moderators are only using this Poll to "Test the Waters" so to speak that "if" a MLHH Logo T-Shirt were to be made available, how many of you guys would be interested in obtaining one. Nothing more.......nothing less. (Exact design placement, words if any and or color has not even been discussed and won't be until after anything more is known from you.) All we would like to know from you guys at this point is a simple yes or no answer along with a comment if you desire. What you see above is shown as an "example" of what such a shirt might look like. Nothing more, nothing less. But at least you can count on the fact that the T-Shirt WOULD be of our unique original Logo only and nothing other.
Thanks to all of you for the input so far received. It is very much appreciated.
Justin
Obviously heavily outweighed, my answer whether mlhh products should be produced and sold at all is still: No.
-Ardroth
Hi Justin,
Here's my answer about the T-shirt:
Yes, I'd buy one (or maybe even 2!); but, truthfully, I'm not all that crazy about that rectangle-look in front. In general, I very rarely wear T's nowadays, at least with any saying on them, --- solid-colored plain T's just look better on me, I feel. T-shirts with a lot of writing and/or pictures on them just emphasize my extra pounds and/or my age back in the mirror at me (as if I'm a clueless old fart "trying" to look like a teen - lol)...
- Ken
If you are at all uncomfortable wearing such a shirt, then why do it?
But the POLL is this: "The moderators are counting on this Poll to determine if such a project should be persued."
NOT about whether or not YOU would actually wear such a shirt.
Also, those who would not want a shirt, might prefer a hat...
or a coffee mug...or a mouse pad. Those items would be 'less public' but could be appreciate on a private--more personal level.
In that case, why run the poll at all? Just go ahead and do it if it's something the moderators are so excited about. It's not as if Victor would be losing revenue if no one bought one.
First, Victor no longer owns the Hyperboard. The moderators formed an organization in July, not surprisingly named "Men's Long Hair Hyperboard", to serve as trustees. Victor transferred the Hyperboard to them in July. The reason was simple. Victor had run the board for almost a decade, and although he is as committed to having long hair as ever, his hobby interests had shifted elsewhere, a perfectly normal occurrence in men whose lives are filled with growth experiences. Organizations perpetuate themselves by bringing on board a constant stream of people who feel enthusiasm "now". That often can go on for decades. Hobbies die. Victor and the moderators felt the site was too important to just die because one guy got tired of his hobby. (Victor is still involved, by the way; he is one of the eleven trustees.)
Second, there was a lot of enthusiasm about the logo, so the officers just wanted to find out if there would be similar enthusiasm for it on a T-shirt. If shirts are to be offered, they need a rough idea about how many. Production quantity can affect the price, and it can affect whether it seems worthwhile to do a run at all. There's nothing more to the T-shirt inquiry than that.
As for funding, Absalom is the MLHH treasurer and soon he will put in place a means for anyone who wants to help with the bills. For now, he's been paying them himself, and yeah, we will have bills.

And IF a company like CafePress (wwww.CafePress.com) is used there is NO investment of money as shirts are printed
ONE AT A TIME AS the orders comes in! Same for coffee mugs, mousepads, posters, etc.
Example of CafePress proceedure:
MLHH sets the retail price. Shirt is ordered, credit card is processed, shirt is printed, shirt is shipped directly to customer. ALL profits (above the wholesale price) are then forwarded once a month to the Treasurer of MLHH.
Benefits for MLHH: NO investemnt of money, NO inventory, NO minimum orders, NO credit card processing, NO shipping to do, REFUNDS handled by company, NO WORK for the MLHH at all, NO ADS on the Hyperboard (except the link to the Men's Long Hair Hyperboard's 'SHOP' (URL example: www.CafePress/Men's Long Hair Hyperboard), PROFITS sent once a month to the Treasurer.
Benefits to customer: a wide selection of shirt colors, other products like coffee mugs, caps, posters, etc. can be ordered instead of a shirt.
This is NOT a pitch for CafePress. Please forgive me if I am 'crossing the line,' as I am in no position to make any suggestions to the Hyperboard.
The Long Hair Community has been offering their items through Cafe Press. I am reasonably one of the moderators there would be happy to talk to a mod from here (especially one already active there too) in confidence about how it is working for them.

For the record, I stopped weaering t-shirts with logos on them about 20 years ago, after realizing that I was paying other companies to essentially turn myself into a walking billboard for their products.
I know access to the forum would remain free, but I won't be buying a shirt.
