Have been growing my hair for 2 years since my separation of Military Service of 42 years. Have been diagnosed with Lymphoma and will begin treatment next week. Posibility of hair loss. Are there any cancer survivers out there ? Should my hair fall out will grow back ASAP. Guy's keep me in your prayers. Thanks
My grandfather had such treatments, but for some reason his hair was so tough he hardly lost any. The doctor was amazed.
Please do NOT worry about your hair at a time like this; your hair can always grow back.
Right now, focus your energy and thoughts on getting well.
I have a few special prayers I will say for you; people have told me they worked wonders with them so why not give it a try.
Best Wishes...
...and get well.
Luckskin, thanks for the reply. You were the first one on this board to tell me what shampoo and conditioner to use and I have used it ever since with good results. When I was in the service the barbera always hated to cut my hair as they said it was so strong. Hope I'm like your Grandfather. I have a positive attitude. Once again Thanks.
I wish you the best with the treatments ahead and you will be in my thoughts. We are here for each other as in any community.
Chris appreciate the responce.
We'll be thinking of you.
I have read something about some kind of 'cold cap' that you can wear on your head during chemo to prevent hair loss. Apparently they are expensive. Don't know why a packet of frozen peas on top of your head wouldn't do the job?
My mum's hair grew back dark instead of white after chemo, but I think unfortunately that was only a temporary effect. It does however make me wonder if a cure for grey hair (not involving dye) might be possible.
I don't know why it works (freezes the hair folicles?
My understanding is it is expensive, $700 per cap and each
cap lasts for a half hour.
Wow a bit expensive. Will wait and see what happens. Thanks
Thanks for the info on the cold cap will look into it.
Hi Gene,
I'm sad to hear you got lymphoma. I pray that the treatment will give you a definite cure.
Hair grows back after almost any cancer therapy. Nevertheless, if hair loss only a possibility, you may be among those who will be spared - depending upon the substances that have to be used. A "Cold Cap" may be helpful, as pointed out in the other post.

I second everyone else, and yes, it does grow back. I know people who have beat this, so it is definitely not over. God be with you.
I finished chemo in April 2004. I did loose all my hair and it did grow back I had it cut in October 2004 and again in December 2004 and from then on I have been growing my hair. My cancer treatment was the major reason why I started to grow my hair.
I was told it can grow back different or even a different colour but mine grew back the same.
Thanks, Like I said should I lose my hair will definitly grow it back as soon as I can.
Life is a neverending series of journeys. Whether your longhair journey terminates as a result of your confrontation with lymphoma or whether the two can co-exist seems a tad trivial in the face of confronting your own mortality. I'm hoping that you can concentrate your energies on successfully renewing your lease on life and defer how you intend to accessorize your existence when the question can occupy a higher priority once you have regained your health.
I'm hoping you find the strength to overcome your immediate foe- lymphoma. I'd much rather congratulate your good health.
Lurk Ness Monster. Thank you so very much for yor very moving reply. I have the support of all my family and friends. Know that I am in good hands and know I will beat this. Onto the next journey with a positive attitude.
Walter thanks for the responce. Two things that I do have is Faith & Hope. If your Father could do it so can I. I have the support of my Family and friends.
