My hair is long and full of body, and looks very feminine. Is that okay? Can we guys wear long, feminine curls and still be masculine, or is the feminine look in vogue now? My hair really looks like a girl's, no kidding! But I like it this way. I really gret a charge out of the way women (and some men) go ga-ga over my hair.
cut it short then it won't look like a girl
I enjoy the feminine look as well. My own hair is about waist lenght but I also enjoy going out in one of my wigs. The image is one I took while wearing my "Scully" wig--a look like Dana Scully, the female agent in "X-Files". I kind of like this look on me--what do you think?
I also have a number of bob wigs. It is interesting to wear these wigs and see the reactions of people. They react a lot more to a shorter feminine 'style' than to simply very long hair (like my own hair or my butt-length wig). I usually wear the 2-inch hoop earrings, too, as shown in the image. I think I want to try it without the earrings and see if the reaction is different.
I should point out that I am not gay, although that is not meant to be a negative comment. Anyone with this strange obsession for hair and/or a feminine look realizes that the spectrum of sexual orientations is almost certainly provided by our genes in a way we do not yet understand. I just like a feminine look in an androgynous sort of way.
I love the feminine look on guys. I've been growing my hair out for about 15 months now and its just below chin length on the sides and between my shoulder blades on the back. I have both ears pierced now and plan to wear hoops like yours ( have small ones now) 2" or bigger soon. I think big hoop or dangling earrings look really great with long hair on guys
Steve-
At your current lenght/style you could do something like this cut that I had when growing out my hair years ago. The front bangs were angle cut from about nose-tip-length to chin length, and then 'feathered back' when drying. A touch of spray holds it in place, if needed. This with even larger (3 to 4 inch) hoops is a killer look.
Note that large hoops are back 'in' after years of unavailability. You can get them at K/Wal-mart or the Claire's type mall stores.
When you do something pretty with your hair, post a pic!
Very nice hair.

I think your hair, earrings, and face look very good. Everything fits together to give a nice-looking overall effect.

With absolutely no scientific underpinning, and based entirely on my own observation, here is my pet theory about negative reactions to guys with long hair.
Have you ever seen a clean-cut young macho man salivate over a lithe-figured young girl whose best feature is her gorgeous long blond hair? Have you ever witnessed the (not-all-that-uncommon) case where the girl turns around to see who was yelling at her, and our young Mr. Macho sees that the object of his affections is really a lithe-figureed young man?
It may be a perfectly natural mistake, but it's the homophobe's worst nightmare. The dude whose hormones started to rise at the site of a lovely same-sex human being will instantly want to kick the ass of that same lovely person as an advertisement to the world that he (Mr. Macho) didn't really mean it. After that, you can bet that any guy with long hair (no matter how plain and lacking in style) will arouse the Macho Man's resentment and hatred. He likely won't even be aware of it, but the anti-longhair bias that he'll carry with him for the rest of his life, is simply a reaction to the frightening time that he was physically attracted to a (long-haired) man.
The good news (still part of my hair-brained theory) is that the increasing tolerance of gay and lesbian people in our society has apparently mitigated the violent dislike that some folks have for long hair on men.

p.s. If you like your hair, keep it. For too many of us, a full head of thick, luxuriant hair is a temporary blessing. Enjoy it while you can.
Do any of you guys set your hair? I've found that setting my hair in large rollers makes it look much nicer- better groomed and like it's better taken care of. I don't think it looks feminine in a "girly" sense, but it has the kind of groomed look that is common for women's hair, and all too uncommon for guys with long hair. Supposedly if you know how to use a blow dryer and large round brush you can achieve a similar result, but I've never been able to master that.

I love long hair on guys and the more feminine the better. I just think stylish cuts on guys are great and more should do it. I'm currently trying to grow mine long to get a shag cut. I love long shags and wish more guys would get shags. Good luck with your hair

My hair looks like a girls too. I have my hair cut in a bob below my ears with nice bangs. I love the length, style, versatility, and movement of this bob style and if it looks like a girls hair then even better because that means I am doing something right in taking care of my hair. I have been mistaken for a girl many times and I just take that as a compliment. I love having pretty feminine hair. Girls have basically taken all male only things so why can't us guys take some girly things for ourselves?
