Hi all!
The fantastic Logo we now have atop our main page and elsewhere within the site has been met with unbelievable response. So much so, that the thought of having T-Shirts made available for a limited time to all members at a very modest sum has been much in discussion by the Moderators.
The illustration you see is an example of the "alternative design" of our Logo as created for us by Luckskind. (In addition, something really neat is has been considered for wording on the back of the shirt.) I can assure you all however at this point, that with the abilities of Luckskind, what is finally arrived at will be nothing short of a masterpiece! The artist is a genius. You would end up with a completely original T-Shirt not available anywhere else in the entire world that would be so unique as to be absolutely unbelievable!
The moderators are counting on this Poll to determine if such a project should be persued. Your input is very important and will be most appreciated.
Rest assured that this is in no way a "make a big profit" deal by us in the slighest. Hardly. (Perhaps many of you are not aware that the Hyperboard costs to keep the site up and running for all of you to enjoy are currently because of Moderator donations only?) If any profits were to occur, they would be used to assure that this very special site continues running for your benefit. An ALL WIN situation for sure! :-)
So please, let us know...........yes or no.
Thanks ever so much.
Justin~
ps: It is really amazing how postings can travel down the thread so fast. Any additional input from those of you that were not aware of this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, and my best to all of you in enjoying a great Weekend!
Hi to all the great longhairs all over the world!!!Anyway in regards to this poll I will add that if there are enough interested buyers for the shirt then just make them happy and produce it.On the other hand if there isn't the interest then don't do it but my feeling is there seems to be more who want it and lifes too short to deny a longhair their happiness. So just do it then!!Mark
The Men's Long Hair Hyperboard is a site to be proud of: there is no other Long Hair Board quite as wonderful as this one with its excellent, high-quality Membership!
You Men (and some women!) should be PROUD to be a member here; I am.
WHY VOTE FOR THE 'LOGO SHIRT'even if you have NO INTENTION of ever wearing one?
Because this Logo shirt may be just the first of MANY DIFFERENT PRODUCTS available for sale!
So if you are interested in some OTHER PRODUCTS, such as coffee mugs, caps, etc. (even though you may NOT be a 'Logo shirt wearer,' I still encourage ALL OF YOU to vote IN FAVOR of the Logo Shirt if only to be able to someday purchase some of the other products mentioned above.
I would like to vote yes, but please if possible make it 100% cotton T shirt... I want to tie dye it. I dont know how to tie dye polyester so....
Most likely it would be Cotton as are most.
You could just count the "yes" responses and presume the "no" responses. :) But, since you ask a second time, I will be the first to say, no. I tend to not wear things on my t-shirts that will make other people uncomfortable, or make me uncomfortable. I wear my long hair every day, and in the places that I go, people accept me as I am. That's enough. I don't need to shove "long haired men" in their faces on my t-shirt, nor that I am a liberal, nor that I am a Unitarian-Universalist, nor that I practice Buddhist meditation, nor that I am a Druid.
Does that make sense? The new logo is great. I cannot wear it on my t-shirt, and you guys know that I am loyal to this community, to long-haired men, and to support for men who want to grow out their hair.
But, for the t-shirts--no, for me.
But, the new logo is great!
Robert
i'm for the shirt being made yes on that
but I doubt i'd ever wear it/buy it. i'll just make a ghetto version with permanent marker
My vote would have to be no. In my opinion, a shirt like that would make a person look like they are overly obsessed with their hair.
OK, initially I chose to say nothing rather than be critical, but I guess I can't really avoid weighing in on the logo/t-shirt.
First, the logo. What can I say? They guy looks strung out to me. A bit too hobo for my taste. Not that there's anything wrong with looking that way--if that's how you look, that's how you look; but to suggest that he represents some kind of "everylonghair" just doesn't feel right.
But then, let's say he looked a bit more pretty-boy, a bit more like a model, well... a bit more attractive. I still wouldn't want to wear it on a T-shirt.
Why? Well, it's been a long time since I wore a T-shirt with any depiction of a person on it. I think I had a Marx Brothers T-shirt when I was a kid. I had a shirt with King Kong on it when I was in my teens... but it's been a long time, and after a while I guess it just wasn't the stylistic direction I went in. In fact, lately I've been in a "solid period". I wear nothing but solids. Last year I got rid of almost everything that has a logo. I still have a few logo shirts around, but the logos are small and I only pull them out when the solids are dirty and I've been too lazy to do laundry.
An interesting side effect of this is that whites have been totally eliminated from my wardrobe, except for socks. I never do a white load. When you wash white socks with jeans, they get slightly blue, but it's not bad looking.
Lately, I've begun to think that the "solid period" might come to an end at some point, but I was thinking of breaking it up with floral patterns on Fridays or, maybe a tie dye. I think I'll be solid for a while though. This, BTW, is a counterpoint to someone at work who remarked I have no fashion sense. I do. It's just that I derive it from my own desire to look a particular way, as opposed to what other people say. This is a common theme here on this board. It should come as no surprise that such a concrete logo might fail to be satisfying to some of us. Maybe an abstract logo, with no text, might be appealing to me. It would be an interesting conversation starter anyway. But it's not solid, and like Ardroth said, we're not a gang.
I don't know too much about the logo on the front. It looks to much like jesus and would be uncomfortable for me to wear. Long hair themed shirts though is a good idea. Like the one suggestion in the previous thread that had the message on the back "if you can see this than my hair is too short". I would wear something like that. But probably nothing mentioning this website or some organization. I love this site but I don't want to go around wearing a t-shirt advertising it.
Would I buy a shirt? Probably. Would I wear it? Probably to parties where lots of longhairs were to be there, but not lots of other places. I tend to wear plain shirts or shirts with nature, parks, Indian, California, or hippie themes. Those things touch my soul. Political statements I've never worn on my sleeve. Or on my belly.
A coffee mug? That would be cool! Lots of people have coffee mugs with logos and such on them, and it would be a good conversation piece. I'd bet some guys here would enjoy having one on his desk at work just to flip off the hair nazis. It would say, "I'm not alone in this, so bug off." For me, setting it on my desk and wearing it on my chest are two different things....
If the "Cafe Press" can crank out the stuff with no commitment, then, I'd say, "Why not?" If there is a commitment of labor or money on someone's part here, then interest needs to be surveyed first. I'm reading about a 50-50 interest at the moment.
My presumption is that the Cafe Press just gets permission to use people's logos and then does everything, agreeing to send them any part of the price they had set over Cafe Press's base price. If so, I'd think Absalom, skinny and testosterone-deficient as he is, could carry the checks all the way to the bank. Checks are not heavy.
