So I happened along this site and I love it! I now have a resource. I have had a shaved head (oh god! lol) for the past 15 years of my life. I am not almost 21 and have been growing my hair out for about 8 months. i have gotten a few trims, just to kinda shape it up cause it just looks stupid if i don't. Anyways, I want to grow it out long but i feel it won't look right because my hair is so darn thick! It looks like a ball on my head! I didn't know if anyone else has or has had this problem and if it is still possible for me to grow the long hair i want? Any advice/encouragement is welcome. This is all so new to me. lol
Hi there Leebo!
I myself have got really thick hair, and I am in almost two years of growth =) Which means more than 14.50 inches for me (Yay)!
Now first of all I would tell you not to get trims anymore for a while, at least a year and a half-two years, because if you keep on trimming your hair you will never achieve your goal, and you will eventually get tired of waiting and cut all your hard gained lenght.
Now, I know thick hair can be hard to grow out, but if you just look at this as just a phase and keep on waiting untill the next stages of your hair (when you first pull it to the back of your ears, when you first can put it in your mouth, when it finally reaches your chin, shoulders, and so fourth) you will be just so glad. Actually, thick hair is very good to grow out, since it looks really beautyfull and full when long. Also, it tangles less than fine hair =)
So just keep your hair growing and keep on taking monthly pictures for you to see that you are in the long hair way. I wish you the best luck =)
I have very thick hair and the first time I grew out my hair it did exactly what your talking about. But I have very curly hair and your's doesn't look that curly so you shouldn't expect this. Just resist the urge to trim and you'll be fine.
