G'day everyone,
I've been talking to some of my friends in the UK online alot recently and I've noticed that they are all growing their hair out (irrespective of my growing mine).
Is it a fashion trend to have longer hair in the UK now?

From what I've seen personally, I wouldn't say it's a trend as such, nor are guys growing their hair particularly long. That said, it does appear that more guys aged 18-24 are going for shaggy/shoulder length styles which I assume are made popular by bands like Kings Of Leon, as well as footballers as far as the more 'prissy' growers go. I am, however, only really exposed to the university/student crowd, so it's to be expected.

I wouldn't say it is a trend, although I notice that there is a higher-than-average number of longhair men around at uni than I would expect to see elsewhere.
Ive noticed more people in the UK have long or longish hair than 6 year back... more people with their hair long makes me determined to keep growing so im hoping this time aorund, I will achieve my goal which is only really hair down to my lips/chin as in the fringe bangs, im sure back hair by this time will reach bottom of neck =) Anyways I feel more determined by seeing more long hairs here... and not so alone... so it helps to see more long haired guys in the UK... although maybe its not just a tren here, maybe its the fact that because Im wanting to grow my hair long that more recently I notice guys with long hair more now >.<
Yea, you do tend to notice people with certain hairstyles when that is what you're after.. Been growing my hair for 3.5 years now (reaches mid-back, but i wear it to the front like a mane ;)). I recently got dreadlocks (only lost about an inch :) but it means it'll take longer for my locks to mature as they weren't backcombed tightly :'( ), I now see at least one person with dreadlocks a day, whereas before i never noticed anyone. As for long hair becoming a trend.. i don't see a lot of people really growing their hair. if they are metalheads it's like down to their collar bone to a few inches above their nipple (i don't consider that long, because they start trimming it after that :( ) if they are emo its like down to their lip/chin etc. kinda generalising.. but it's true.
Not so as I have noticed,I'm sorry to say. But I am of the older generation. I'd love to think that there were other guys my age around growing their hair but I don't see much signs yet.
I have a few long haired friends myself at uni here. I think the trend is catching up here, and like 1 in 50 people have long hair in our uni which is like 17,000 students. Elsewhere on the tube and roads, there are a few people with ponytails. However I havent seen any people trying out other styles than the usual ponytail when they are out.
There seems to be a leaning towards the longish chin length unkept look, but I think this has come about from the recent upsurgence in the mainstream charts for 'diluted rock/pop', such as Arctic Monkeys, Jet, Feeder, Funeral for a Friend, Lost Prophets etc etc.
At metal gigs, you always get the classic long hair (nipple length) types, but you don't see these guys much on the street. But to me these guys are the true longhairs that have devoted years to achieving length and it a life style, whereas the trendy longhairs will more than likely have a buzzcut in a year from now.
I've noticed less people with the buzz lately (I think David Beckham - footaller & style icon) has a lot to answer for! I have also noticed some of the blokes at work letting their hair get down to their shoulders and leaving it. So, the trend i'd say is def a bit longer.
(from the UK, female and notices these things!!)
