Comments about mug shots nonwithstanding, here are my 9 month pictures. I started from almost mid-ear and top of collar in back.
Two more below.

This is very good growth for 9 months! Your hair is thick and straight, and that's the best kind of hair when it comes to displaying your progress.
Enjoy every inch of new growth.
Good Luck!
My attempt at a tail.
Still have a couple of inches to go to get all but the bangs

I'm actually charting my growth; measuring every two weeks. I have gained about one inch of growth approximately every 1 1/4 months, or between 3/4 and 1 inch per month. I am taking vitamin supplements formulated for hair growth; the measurements are to see how effective they have been. So far I have been pleased.
Thanks for the response. Now my day is complete :o)
Big George
Hey George, that is amazing growth! I think you must be one of the fastest here too. I started charting and estimating my growth yesterday after over hyping myself with fantasies of reaching terminal length, hehe.
Anyways, I got out the calculator and did some number crunching (okay, so it was really only 12 / 1.25, I was a little too tired to work it out in my head...) based on what you had said..that's 9.6 inches per year! Congratulations with that. I calculated my own hair too, based on how it's grown so far, and I'm at 9.3 inches per year (I'm at a consistent 17 inches now, started 22 months ago.)
..And, that puts us both up 3 inches over the average rate of hair growth (Assuming that it's 6 inches, right?) I was excited to find that out, and I imagine you're excited with your own hair growth too - if not, you definitely should be. So now this poses the question - does hair grow at a consistent rate until terminal length is reached? If terminal length is usually achieved after 6 years, does that mean that you can estimate your terminal length by multiplying that number by 6? If so, 55 inches..wow, I'm getting excited again just thinking about it, hehe! I'm hoping someone can confirm this for me, or give me a little science lesson behind it.
I think I'm getting a little off topic again by going on about this, but your name is almost synonymous with rapid hair growth in my dictionary now, so I used it as an opportunity to go on about it!
I wish you very good luck with your hair, George, and I hope you'll keep updating with the progress. I think it's coming in very nicely so far and I want to be surprised at just how fast it really is growing too!
Read the info at http://www.choisser.com/longhair/ on terminal length; he also has a good bit of other info. Hair doesn't stop growing at terminal length; it's being replaces as it sheds, and is in an equalibrium stage here. The rate of growth doesn't change; its based more on the number of hairs that is shed on a daily basis and how long it takes for the new ones to reach length.
I am thrilled with my rate of growth. Many on here say vitamins and supplements don't help the rate of growth; I am charting my rate to prove otherwise.
Check out that site; also check the archieves here for a couple of other posts on the same topic; lots of good info here.
Good luck in your journey.
Big George
Thanks for the link, George! I've read some similar things on the topic before, and I've got a basic understanding on how terminal growth works. My understanding is that terminal length is the longest you can get while your hair can still balance the shedding with growth. If I took an educated guess based on that, I'd think that growth would get slower and slower as time goes by, so I'm still wondering if I can be proven wrong about that - if it's still possible for people to estimate a terminal length by multiplying the growth per year by 6. Hair grows at a consistent rate, so if my strands lived to be 6 years, I'd be right to assume I'd eventually get to 55 inches I think? You can tell I'm still a little confused about this all, hehe..
Have you tried growing your hair out without taking the vitamins/supplements? I'm interested to see just how well they are working for you. I've read that other section on the same link you provided about diet; how meats, fish, and whole grains supply the vitamins hair needs. I think that about sums up a lot of my diet, so it could also explain my own rapid growth.
Can you tell me where to find the archives around here? I've only been able to browse around to posts from around the last month or so.
Not sure at the moment; I know they have changed servers; maybe that is not up yet; one way to find out. I will post a question about this.
I posted about my odd experience with vitamins earlier with the following:
you know one of the oddest things I have noticed regarding my mood and hair is this. Since I started growing out my hair I had been taking some vitamins that were supposed to help with growing hair, now I know that many people say they are a waste of time and money but I figured it was worth it to try it out. If they helped some in a years time then I would be ahead of the game and if they didnt help well then I didnt lose that much. But what is wierd is that sometimes for many days I dont feel well and or just dont care about my hair so much and I dont take the vitamins for days.
Odd thing is that I feel that my hair seems to grow faster on those days and others have remarked it too, like my hair grows better without the vitamins.
It sounds crazy but I think I should just stop them even if I cant explain it. Many people have had much more growth than I in 1 year and now i think I may have hurt my progress though it sounds impossible. How can a vitamin hurt the progress?
Well I think Im going off the bottle at last lol, see what nature does...
Everyone reacts differently; I'm just fortunate that it seems to be working for me. I may start a new thread on this topic to see if anyone else is doing the same.
Thanks for the reply.
George
I can't beleive your hair grows that fast, --- NOT FAIR!!! And it looks healthy as hell, too!!
My guess is that within a couple of years, you're gonna be the envy of every 50+ year old, --- myself included!
Do you have any Native American blood in you? The thickest, healthiest , & seems to me the longest hair I've ever seen on guys (in-person, at least) all tend to come from people with at least part American Indian blood in them. And if so, count your lucky stars, cuz you'll definitely never go bald!
Anyway, lots of oooooooooo's and aaaaahhh's in you direction, George!
- Ken
My great-grandfather on my father's side was full blooded Native American; hopefully those genes passed on to me.
Great progress George! I'm jealous. I'm approaching 10 months, and I don't see the same progress. Congratulations.
Bruce
At last we get to see the infamous Big George!!
And your hair is great, really thick and healthy as Ken says. Its going to look killer after a couple more years. Keep up the great journey George.
Infamous, huh? I didn't realize anyone on this forum knew those stories!
That's one impressive mugshot :)
Let me join the chorus of the Slow Hair Growers Who Are Jealous of Big George in saying that's fantastic hair you have there. Great colors! You are going to have post twice as many progress pics as the rest of us since you are blessed with twice the growth :)
Hey, Big George, like the "mug shots"! Is that a bit of gray I see in your hair? If so, it's very cool looking!
peace,
dino
Yea, it seems I'm developing my own racing stripe up top. I just tell people its the "distinguished" look.
Thanks
George
