I just recently cut off over 3' of curly red/brown hair and sent it off to "Wigs for Kids". I'm left with shoulder-length hair (still!) and I'm bored with it in a ponytail at work.
Saw the movie "Hellboy" the other day and his little ponytail looked so freaking cool - would be great for me in my business environment. I used to keep it braided and neat, but now it's just a poof out the back of my head.
Anyone have any ideas on achieving that type of style? I'm having a hard time turning up movie stills of it.
Here's an example from the illustrated series - I think in the movie he had hair sticks, not sure. Just a top-knot but worn much lower.
Haven't seen Hellboy for a while so I couldn't remember the look. Gotta love the movies, such a large ponytail from so little hair coming into it.
Seeing archaic Japanese styles in media I often wonder how they got their hair to do that look and stay in place. These days I'd suggest the ponytail first then a small pinch to open jaw clip to hold the end in place. The clip should be able to grab some of the hair underneath to anchor it.

Is that you with the antlers in the picture? That is very cool looking!
If you have shoulder length hair still, it should be easy to tie it up like hellboy.
I'm devastated to hear you cut off 3' of hair. That's probably NOT what you wanted to hear, now that it's already cut; but, I sometimes have a "no-filter" system in my brain, so I tend to speak whatever I think...
Having just said the above, though, I am certainly glad for the sake of whichever kid gets your hair from the Wigs for Kids organization (sounds similar to "Locks of Love", --- but that group has some degree of a cloud of controversy over it).
Are you planning on ever growing your super-long hair back? I hope so!!! In which case... I have no further advise to share (other than, YIPEEEEEEEE!!)!!!
