My goal is to reach my stomach, but I have very fine hair. My mother thinks that this isn't the best length for me and suggests that I remain at my shoulders(she's a hair stylist). Somehow, I don't think it'll look that bad at longer lengths. Warrel Dane, my favorite vocalist (singer for Nevermore) has hair around this length and his hair looks to be around the same diameter as mine and I think it looks awesome on him! I like the long straight look, headbanging looks way better this way.

I don't know, what do you guys think?
It's all down to personal preference - how would you rather have it? Your mother could be the best hair stylist in the world, but all that she could really tell you is how much more difficult it would be to manage. It's up to you personally to decide which approach you'd rather take, it shouldn't be up to your mother to decide which would look best on you.
The best advice I can give you is to grow it out and see how it works for you? If you don't like it or if it gets too hard to manage, then you can just give it trims until it's at a length you are more comfortable with. To me that's a way better alternative than just keeping it shoulder length based on what somebody else said, and never finding out for myself!
And when you are taking personal image criticisms from your mother, you should at least ask yourself if the person whose hair you are basing yours off of is someone your mother would like as a hair stylist as well. At least in the case of my mother, the answer would be no, and that's why it's down to what I think, not what my mother thinks :)
By the way, I'm not saying finer hair is harder to manage, because I have no experience with it! I was using that as an example. It's worth mentioning that I also like the look of finer hair at longer lengths, and I think you should definitely go for it!
I have very fine hair, and it is almost down to my waist so far showing no evidence of reaching terminal. Best thing to do is keep letting it grow.
nevermore is awosme!!
and so are there hair...all of the members have longer than average (for metalheads) hair
warrels is awosme in a tail or loose.
definately gor for it man cuas you can always cut it after if you dont like it
I have never bought into the notion that longer is better. Some men with very, very long hair just look distracting to me. A lot of it has to do with how well they take care of their hair.
I tend to agree that finer hair, and certainly thinner hair, looks better when it's around shoulder length than when it is down the back. That's all relative. Shoulder length can mean 2-3 inches past the shoulders, or even mid-back. What happens to mine when it reaches mid-back and beyond is that the bottom 5-7 inches just look thin and whispy. I don't like that look on me or anyone else for that matter.
However, if I have those 5-7 inches cut off and my hair is shoulder length or thereabouts, I really like the way it looks, behaves, etc. I have LOTS of fine hair. I am not going bald. But, the longer it gets, the thinner those fine hairs look on the ends.
Bottom lie--grow your hair however long you like it, and decide what is the best length for you.

Go with what makes you happy.
(I thought of making a longer post, but, really, this is all that matters).
