Hi - I see alot of people on these boards suggest only washing you're hair every other, or third day ?
However my hair is very fine and I find even if I wash it in the morning by the end of the day it will begin to look greasy and oily so leaving it that long before washing is out the question for me :-/
Does anyone else have this kind of problem, where you need to wash you're hair daily else it becomes very greasy/oily looking ?
Fortunatly, i can go 1 entire week without washing my hair...
Tough I may suggest something... If your hair is long enough to put in a nice full ponytail, you can wash your scalp only every morning to take out the excessive oil (I've done it twice already and it works good =) ). You simply have to grab all your hair with one hand and try to wash the scalp woth the other. You have to turn your head down to do this, and you can ask someone's help to grab your hair.
This method is used bu those people with really really long hair that have to wait a lot of time for the natural oils to reach the ends, so they can't wash them regularly. Then they wash their scalp twice a week and wash the ends once a month or so.
I wish you good luck and I hope I helped =)
I have the exact same problem; I wash my hair everyday. Just condition it well.
Everyone is different; you have to find what works for you. I would love to go 2-3 days between washings to let the natural oils work, but with my hair type, excess of scalp oils, and heat and humidity in the New Orleans outdoors, it just isn't feasible.
You have to do what you are comfortable with and is best for you.

Yup. It's a tough combination with very fine hair and very oily complexion. I'm pushing 50 and still get zits occassionally. (On the other hand, I'm not getting wrinkles!) By bedtime my hair is all greasy and looks like I haven't washed it in a week.
I've had a few decades to try everything. What seems to work best for me is this:
I shampoo daily, and at the last minute before leaving the house. I use a gentle, "dry, damaged hair" shampoo that takes three or four washings to come clean rather than the "oily hair" ones that clean it in only one or two.
Then I use an oil-free, silicone-free conditioner, rinsing thoroughly. After combing and tailing, I re-treat my tail with just a little dot of the same conditioner diluted on wet hands. Otherwise, the tail is too dry and I have trouble with breakage.
I have fine hair as well. Wash it every day or, as you said, you will look like a greasy mess.
Yes I have this problem and my hair is fine. I wash my hair about every 36 hours, ie. Wash in the morning, wash at night the following day, skip the next day, then repeat the cycle. I don't like to go much longer between washes or else it gets greasy and annoying. I use conditioner after each wash and try (and that's a BIG try) not to comb or play with my hair too much as this only speeds up the greasing process.

washing you're hair every other, or third day ?
As your hair gets longer, you will want to wash it less frequently for a number of reasons:
1. If you intend to grow you hair very long, then you should consider
the fact that the ENDS of your hair will be OLD and so you must be very gentle with how you treat your hair.
Many experts recommend only washing the scalp (on very long hair) and then letting the shampoo work its way down when you rinse it out of your hair.
2. Very long hair is a LOT of work to wash and there aren't many guys who would want to go through all that work every couple of days!
Hope that helps.
Good Luck!
