Well the time had come,
I was at my local restaurant and I was being served and the lady who was serving me briefly looked up and then she said..."Mam, do you want fries with that?"...and I knew my hair was definitely long!
Welcome to the club! I have only had that happen to me twice and it was really months ago around the same time. Would think it would happen more now.
Thank you,
I agree,
It hasn't happened to much at all, I've had one curious young girl ask about my hair but no dirty looks or remarks which I'm grateful for but that was pretty cool that I was finally noticed with long hair...
OK. I've never been "ma'm"'ed. Maybe the grey sideburns have something to do with it. I kinda feel like I've missed out. LOL.
That happened to me a few months ago... even WITH gray sideburns! A waiter came up behind me and say, "Excuse me, ma'am." I just turned around and smiled. He got a little flustered. LOL!

Hehe...
I handled my situation wonderfully,
When she looked back up she say that I was a male and apologized which made me feel good, she realized her mistake at least but I'm suprised because I do have long sideburns but my hair wasn't pulled back so that might have confused her, once my hair is back the confusion will probably stop but I jokingly told her...."No I'm not a girl" with a good sense of attitude and felt like telling my friends that I was noticed with long hair...
I have sideburns too and have been debating if I'll keep them...
That happens to more guys than you can imagine.
Oops, I hit enter as I was trying to make a shift for the @ symbol in the email address. Sorry about the double post.
Anyways...I'm happy for you! I used to get "Ma'am"ed often while I was younger, going through those awkward stages, which is about as long as I ever let my hair get back then. Now I'm tall enough that it never happens even when I'm sitting down :) I wish it would sometimes though! But the jokes from my acquaintances telling me to get haircuts are enough consolation.
Thanks,
My friend told me not to let it bother me and I was impressed that it didn't bother me, I must be mentally up to the challenge of any remarks coming from the public...
LMAO, that is kind of a good feeling, b/c you are like wow, my hair is long which is cool, but then you think,... wow some people think I am a chick, which is very wierd lol. When I was 15 I used to get mamed alot, but now not so much :(
I know!
I felt happy inside that people are noticing me with long hair now but feeling a bit turned off that she thought I looked like a female but overall it didn't upset me at all, I'm glad the change of having long hair has arrived!
I wouldn't read too much into it, its not even really you that people see out of the corner of their eye but just some typical characteristic, its just that you can "hear" the result of her half formed image of you before she really looks. I am sure that the same thing happened to you before where people didn't really see "you" but just a quick impression that probably wasn't accurate then either, its just that it didn't require
the speaker to make a quick hasty mental classification then.
Don't sweat it, people were wrong before too,you just didn't know it :)
True,
I was overall impressed how I handled it, for the most part I didn't make a big deal out of it, feeling more impressed that my hair is being recognized for being long...
