Hans-Uwe generously invited my friend and I to join him for a tour of Germany. My friend and I had spent three days in England before flying over to meet Hans-Uwe in Germany.
On the grounds of Marksburg (St. Mark's Castle) at the Rhine River
By the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin with a longhaired friend of Hans-Uwe
By the cathedral in Cologne
In the Black Forest (Schau-ins-Land mountain)
By the former Checkpoint Charlie at a former crossing point between East and West Berlin
In Heidelberg..
At a former monastery in Colmar, France..
At Stonehenge in England before our joining Hans-Uwe
Looks like you guys had a fine time. That is cool that Hans-Uwe showed you around in Germany. Very good pictures as well. Glad you made it back safely too.
Was it a very expensive to do all that? I would love to visit some of the countries there, but have limited funds.
Bragi
Thanks Bragi.
England, especially London, was very expensive. Germany wasn't as bad and we were able to stay for some of the nights with Hans-Uwe and his friends. The other nights we stayed in relatively cheap hotels. We often ate at restaurants but food would have been much cheaper if we had bought it at markets.
Jason, thank you for sharing these pictures. I don't think I have seen Hans-Uwe's hair before and I am transfixed by his stunning color and the neatness of his braid. Your hair shines too in those few sunny pictures. You two sure know how to pick meet locations!
Elizabeth
Yes, his braiding technique is excellent. I got quite the tour of Germany. It is truly a beautiful country with many places ideally suited for hair meets!
Thanks for your comments.
Hi Elizabeth,
thanks so much for your nice compliments! They mean a lot, as they come from a woman with OUTSTANDINGLY beautiful hair...
All the best!
Hans-Uwe
What wonderful pictures! And how nice to get to see Hans-Uwe. I love the pic from Stone Henge. I was there in 2000 with some of my students. It was an overcast day like the one you shot, and then, all of a sudden, cold, driving rain. It as perfect. Somehow it fit the place. I loved being there.
Thanks for sharing the trip and shots.
Robert
Thanks Robert.
I loved the vibe at Stonehenge and the dark, foreboding clouds definitely added to the effect.
lol i swear its always like that eh....there was a lot of sleet there too when i was there.
Those were all fantastic pictures but I do believe I enjoyed the first one with the beautiful sky the best. But they were all spectacular, the cathedral is magnificent even in the small part that we can see, and Heidelburg looks so welcoming there, makes me want to travel too though I have done surprisingly little so far.
Thanks Jason and Hans-Uwe for the wonderful pictures :)
You guys all looked terrific too and thats saying something given the scenery surrounding you!
The pics are fantastic! It's great that you had the opportunity to visit Germany and see Hans-Uwe. I'll be going over to Europe [primarily England with one day stops in Ireland and France] next April and hope to visit with some MLHH members while I'm there.

Hi MuffinMan,
thanks a lot for your comment. I suggest you drop me an email (eg by clicking on my handle) the next time you travel to Germany... So you belong to those ~50% of the Americans who claim to have at least SOME German ancestry ;-)
All the best!
