Here are some pics taken Sunday, 8-27-06, of our San Francisco get-together. We had a great time and hope that you might be able to join us in the future! [Never say never! :) ]

A lot of hair here!
Ken getting his hair measured!
Whatever that tape measurer says... it's a lie, just a downright LIE, I tell you: my hair is waaaaaaaay more than TWICE that long, I swear, --- in fact, it was dragging on the lawn that day, ---- I just lifted it up to my waist for this pic, that's all. No, don't listen to the others, they don't know what they're talking about, --- just a lot of jealousy that I won the contest that day! What? What's that you say? Are you trying to tell me that Elizabeth, Absalom, and Trolleypup won by a long shot?? ARE YOU CRAZY??? Whoever said, "pictures don't tell a lie" was referring to *most* pictures...
And, WOW!! The doctor was right about recovering from my case of anorexia, --- I've recovered from it very well indeed!
- Ken
I can relate; my tape lies in both directions also!
Our Webmaster. Thanks, Bill, for all your work!
Talk about FRIZZ! Yikes!
It was a fun afternoon!
More Golden Gate Park pics
More great pics!
--Rick
yes it does look like you all had a very nice afternoon.
could say it was a hairy day :-)
wish I could have been there too
Wow, guys, that was a hair extravaganza if I do say so myself. Those gardens are so beautiful! That is great that you were all able to get together and fellowship with one another.
So who won the length contest when someone started pulling the tape measure?
Elizabeth, perhaps?
Yup! Her hair was on the verge of entangling with the blades of grass in the lawn.
Some of the folks there were measuring hair using a method used on a women's long hair board they frequent. It came off a bit silly on men. My partner scored over a foot of mane, and his hair is only a couple of inches long. We were teasing him about being a longhair after all. They were measuring all the way across the top of his head from his forehead to his collar. The method was also ridiculous on Elizabeth's husband Bill, who has lots of long hair all over his shoulders but no hair up top. That way of measuring just doesn't work on most men, but it got Abaslom all excited. He got a bigger number of inches for his hair! Absalom is fascinated by numbers, and the bigger the number if it is associated with hair, the better!
We also discovered that my partner and I were the only ones there who had ever seen Absalom with his hair "down", so he freed it from the pony ties. He has a great mane!
Robert brought along a bag of "hair toys" as he called them, various rods, clasps, etc, to hold his mane in a bun behind his head. Ken showed everyone how he put his hair in a bun. And me, I let 'em all see what frizzy hair is really like, by just showing up!
It was a lot of fun being with people who share our interest and who we've corresponded with on line for so long!
Bill
In general, it gives a bigger number, thus my comment, "The size thing isn't just limited to men!" since LHC is mostly women.
Wow, Rick, are those actually (gasp!) SHOES I see on your feet? You conformist, you! :-D
I can't wait for the next event, so I can meet all you beautiful people in person!

Yeah... I like to go barefoot a lot but not in places where I've never been before. I thought about going barefoot that day, but I'm glad I didn't. Saw a BUNCH of glass. Not good!
I'm sure there'll definitely be more events down the road. A lot of MLHH members around here not to!
--Rick
No, not good at all. You're more prudent than I. These days, I just go barefoot everywhere (except, of course, the pathology lab where I work -- yuck!!).
Let's do coffee again soon... I'll email you.

Elizabeth and Bill
A very rare hair plant!
Really cool pic!
(I guess most will understand why I like it)
Karsten
Karsten, I'm sure you were the inspiration behind it!
dino
Absolutely nothing to do with hair but I thought it was a cool pic!
Thats look a lot of fun, shame I'm thousands of miles away!
Well.. come on over to California, Dave! We'll get MLHH members from all over the world for another meet in Golden Gate Park!
--Rick
I would have attended except I was out of town on Vacation.
I think we'll be doing this often. Sounds good to me!

Looks like y'all had a great time; it would have been fun to be there. Not much on sushi though, I prefer the plain old American food like crawfish, boudin, green turtle soup, and alligator!
Big George
"Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!" Seriously, Ebisu is one of the better restaurants I've gone to for accomodating food restrictions and preferences (whatever they may be), partly because of the individual preparation by uber-skilled chefs, partly because quality affects people's food preferences. One night, with four people, the restrictions were: no meat, no shellfish, no raw, and no natto (that was me)...and I have to be honest, as the sole "omnivore" the vegetarian sushi was the most interesting, and the hamachi belly fried rice was the best tasting. I've had crawfish there, as well as the best lamb chops EVER!
What a day that was. Now I have seen how each of you smile, laugh, and the variety of your voices. Hair was secondary to meeting more people I am already fond of.

Man, how much did you guys spend on the meals? They dont look cheap...
Since Robert is such a fixture at Ebisu I know we benefited from being with him and so we weren't paying the regular price. When we parked across the street at a lot owned by the people running Ebisu the attendant questioningly asked him something like, "do you have to pay when you park here?" I know whatever is usually charged for the food we ate would still be completely worth it.

I am so pissed off that I am so far away from you guys! What a spectacular set of pictures you just shared with us =) I mean it, those gardens are just astounishing, I supose you had a grat time (mostly Ken with all those beautyfull flowers =) ) I just wished I could have been there =)
And you hair, guys... Elizabeth, how could you ever have that hair, i never imagined, I tought it was so much shorter! GOOOOD JOB!
I just loved all the pictures, they are all great, and guys, don't ever cut your hair, none of you. Just look at all that glory =)
Oh, and just wait for me... I'll have hair as long as you in no time =D =P
Thank's for sharing the pictures =) Maybe someday there'll be a Portuguese event =P
See ya!
You never can tell... you just might get the chance to come and visit folks here in the US. Or we'll come and visit you in Portugal! Great hair, by the way!

Wow, I just can't get over how amazing trolleypup's hair looks in all of the photos. I hope to achieve something like that someday!
Everybody's hair looked wonderful too. I'm used to seeing long hair all over this board, but even I was surprised and found myself doing double takes on some of these pictures! The first picture I saw of Elizabeth from the set was of her with the hair tucked underneath itself (a few posts away) so I thought it was relatively short. I continued going through the gallery and my eyes got really wide when I saw the line up photo and realized that my first impression was as far from being right as it could get :) Really really really amazing hair from everybody there.
Absalom's colorful segmented ponytail was impressive too.
Thank you! At the meet, we also touched on what (for lack of a more PC term) I call "hair anorexia"...ones hair not being as long, or thick, or as good condition as others perceive it to be.
I must say, it is probably a good thing for my ego to be reminded that I'm not just not the longest hair around the boards, but not the longest haired guy around. Especially in the sense of actually meeting them...there are a few guys around SF with hair longer than me ( O.O about the guy with perfect ringlets that is still my length!!!).
Awesome hair all around, and I can't wait for the next meet.
I might be around for the next meet even! I'm thinking about moving to Cupertino in the near future, which isn't too far from San Francisco.
I have the opposite of hair anorexia; I always think that my hair is too thick :) That's one of the reasons I found myself ogling your hair so much in the photos. We have a similar hair type, and it's frustrating on myself, and it's not nearly as close to being as long as yours is yet. If I could get hair even near as wonderful as yours -- even if I could grow it that long -- I would be overwhelmed with joy and I'd most likely become a narcissistic recluse, staying home all day and messing with it :)
But it's good that you're not the longest haired guy around, just means that there are more near-terminal longhairs!
I'm in San Jose, not too far from Cupertino. Let us know when you move here. We'll definitely organize another meet, either in SF or somewhere else in the area.

Hey there, your hair and all the others who attended hair looks great. Thanks for the pics. I am guessing your hair is about the same length as mine, which means its a bit shorter then the rest of the groups. LOL I didn't ever think I would say my hair is short LOL Looks like a good time, Nice pics there RICK!
Thanks, Longhairedone! My last haircut was in March of '04 with no trims in between. I don't have any particular goal in mind. Just letting it grow!
I'd like to go back to Golden Gate Park and take more pics of the flowers. Neat place! Maybe in a couple of weeks. Too much stuff to do in the meantime... :)
--Rick
I was thinking about taking a break from cleaning my room (think: large space, think large office dumpster, think about a stick of dynamite. That was my room a week ago (~5% clear floor space, now ~25% clear). Got a poke from someone with past floor length, so I'm off to take dahlia pictures. When I get home, I can take out the dozen bins of trash and recycling.
And I thought I was the only one with little floor space for the same reason!! :) My partner's a packrat and after being together this long, I've picked up some of his bad habits... oops!
--Rick
Wow!I've just spent 30 minutes or so looking at all the pics.I may have to plan a road trip. The hair all looked fantastic and so did the food and flowers.
Keep it growing,
Arrick
Come on out and we'll another meet! Can't remember where you said you're located. Also you mentioned something about a motorcycle? Must be having a brain fart! Sure isn't the first time!
--Rick
Great pictures!!!
