Hey everyone. I just thought I'd make a post as I've pretty much reached the inital length I set out to have. I used to post here a decent amount when I first started growing out my hair nearly 5 years ago. I'd like to thank everyone for all the advice on the awkward stage, what shampoos and conditioners worked best, what not to do to your hair and everything of the sort.
For a while I thought my hair was just going to end up a gigantic afro mess ball thing. I was told that it'd weigh itself down over time. I never believed it actually would...but yeah, it finally did. Thanks again.
This coming December will mark 5 years of growing it out from an inch or so.
First up are 2 wet pictures.
I apologize for the quality on the next few. My digital camera died soon after I took the wet shots. These shots weren't taken with the hair in mind.
Here it is tied from the front:
And here it is tied from the back (this was taken at some crazy party a friend had)
Thanks for looking.
Wow, Kevin, what a beautyfull hair you have =)
Really, it was worth the time you waited for your hair to grow, it looks so healthy =) And the most important is that it suits you so well! I have to gongratulate you =) You did quite an achievement.
Now I just wonder... Are you going to grow it longer?? He he Hope so =D
Once again, gongratulations, and good luck for the future =)
See ya!
There is an email awaiting you sent through the system here. It's a follow-up to your very supportive responses including the one I'm replying to. Some of the subject matter you may want to be apprised of more privately so I chose email as opposed to a threaded response here.
Peace.
exelent condition and textured hair!
i can see in your photos that you have a healthily whacky sense of humour :P
your at the lengththat im planniing on obtaining!!!
alas im nearing my one year mark in roughly a month!!!
one word... "Amazing". Good things come to those who wait!
I hope you continue to grow it out for another 5 years (and more).
Mogh
My goodness, how wrong you were! Stunning hair - I'm so jealous of those waves - I need to do some serious braiding to get anywhere near that look and then it always rains and straightens them out again :o(
Amazing hair - 5 years well spent I'd say.
Crazy length man! Looking excellent, what's your goal length?

Sweet!
Hey Kevin, you have really beautiful hair, and your hair is a real success story. It is so good that you stuck it out through the difficult stages of growing it. It is a perfect example to others what a few years of patience can produce. Keep it growing and flowing.
Absalom
This is, like... wow!
Really, one of the best hairs I've seen around here. It's long, looks healthy, and fits perfectly with facial traits.
A hair everyone should be aiming at. Keep growing and show off :)
Have you had any trims while you were growing? It's that your hair looks really blunt and cutted straight ahead in the ends... Just wondering =)
i love it!
Wow! You're an inspiration to me now. I've had that exact same gigantic-fro-mess-ball-thing fear since I started growing too! And I've also doubted the whole weighing itself down story!! And we have almost the exact same hair type!!! I'm very excited to hear that success story, even from my own hair's point of view!
Wow, that is a great length you have attained. Looks great!
You think it will grow even longer? That is a very good picture; your hair compliments your features well.
Wow, I really didn't expect this much of a response. I guess I forgot how great the people on this board are. Thanks a lot.
I've had 2 trims while growing. The last one was about a year and a half ago.
I'm shooting for terminal length...or at least until it begins to look disproportionate with the rest of my body. We'll see.
It's sort of funny, when I first started growing I told myself I wanted it to the bottom of chin. It eventually got there and once I'd achieved that goal I thought "Eghhh, maybe shoulder length would be nifty" When it got there I said "Well, how about mid back" When it got there I just decided to stop setting any sort of goal and just let it go, as I seemed to enjoy it being of any decent length.
Thanks again for all the support!
Really, really great pictures, that is a seriously amazing head of hair.
