My question to all the good people in this board is the following:
If one loses 100 hairs a day on average, its logical to conclude that one will have many hairs that are not long enought to get to the ponytail "band" or 'holding entity'. Whenever I put my hair back there are ALOT of hairs floating around (and my hair is abundant and thick).Does this happen to most of you fine people? And how do girls have such seemingly perfectly smooth and non-fly-away's hair! Its inconcievable. Note that I do not add any moouse or anything like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1--yes, I have shorter hairs that "float around" when I put my hair in a tail.
2--the girls do,too. I have two daughters and a wife. What they do that many men are squeamish about doing--is using hair spray, gel, etc to keep their hair in control the way they want it to look.
Robert
Agree with you on both comments, Robert. Whenever I'm concerned about looking real neat whenever my hair's tailed [example, at work], I'll put a small touch of gel on the sides and top to hold the strays. I'm not at squeamish about using gel, spray, etc. That's what got me through the 'awkward stage' with little or no problem.

Bingo! Same here. My hair has long been long enough to put in a tail, half tail, braid, etc. And I always use a little bit of spray to keep the edges neat.
No law says that a man with long hair must look "scraggy" unless he wants to. :)

It's because girls generally have long hair from a young age, and many trims throughout, making their hair even and such. When guys grow out hair, we usually do it from a short haircut, so we get more uneven hair, breakage, split ends, etc.
Camilus,
Here is the rub. Everyone 's hair is different. No false encouragement, Hour hair may all fall out tomorrow. But the issue is how do you take care of your hair to keep it around for a long timer. Some folk are genetically predisposed to have minimal hair own the crown of the heard, and they should be delt wth which respect. Howeer, some of us have hair so think that it comes down our forehead, and tends to mnake us look mentally retarded -- not that I have anything against folk who suffer from developental disability. In fact, I do so muself.
the photo with springer is great. I don't know where you are posting from, but here in the u.s. springer has a talk radio show. I was never a fan of his tv show, but he's great on radio.
Most girls use hair straighteners.
