Here I am at 7 months, and here are some pics of my wet hair. I also have some questions.

The questions - at 7 months, I'd expect my hair to be a bit further than this. Is this what would be accepted as an average growth rate? Looking at my last pic, you'll notice my hair curls outwards - is this just a result of the awkward stage? My mother has a friend who's a hairdresser who thinks it's too 'heavy' on the top - would this be true? And if I got some layers cut into it, would it make my hair flow more naturally? Could it affect growth in a negative way? Also, I seem to be growing a hideous mullet. Urgh...
Thats great progress for 7 months! it could even be a bit over average hair growth depending on the length it was when you started. Your hair is fine too... it looks totally great and I dont see the mullet or how you could look like you have a mullet at all... Theirs absolutely no need to cut it or get it layered neither... it will make growing out slower and it might not grow out as natural... its yoru decision though.
Hey there =)
No, you're not growing a hideous mullet lol You have to remember that you are growing your hair from a short cut, and therefore your frontal hair will be a lot shorter than the back (well, it will seem so, but it is exactly the same lenght, but will lie higher than the hair on the back of your head).
There's not much you can do to solve this, you only have to let it grow. You're right into the awkward stage, and you have to wait another 7 to 10 months to get out of it, so hang in there! Just imagine how your hair should look after you get rid of the awkwardness. And every hair has diferent periods of awkwardness. I myself am at 24 months (almost) and I just recently got out of the awkward stage because my hair is so thick... I could say you're gonna get out of it earlier =)
Either ways, your hair looks shiny and healthy so don't bother =) Just keep it growing and feel free to share your progres with us =) You will have plenty of time to trim it however you like it when you reach your goal lenght... I wish you the best luck!
See ya!
Compleate rubish, I'd ignore that advice.
Hi there,
Your growth is quite the same as mine for the same period of time. I also have the wierd upward curl on the sides (It is part of awkward phase I guess), but I comb it while it is still wet (although I'll leave it air dry for 20 minutes before I comb it).
Some may say that it causes breakeage, but I allmost never hear snip sounds, or pull out hair (the hair I usually pull out looks like old/dead hair). I also use Timotei (don't remember the exact name) after shampoo, wich probably helps untangling the hair.
Other than that, when I need my hair to be presentable, after I comb it, I put some laque on it (although it's not damaging my hair right now, I don't know for sure if it will damage it later on. So could any longhair tell me if it's damaging on long term?).
This way it drys and stays in place. Afterwould I can just brush it or else, and It will stay put (plus it's soft and shiny).
Hope this will help. Even though your hair might have some awkward curls and stuff, I say keep it ;)
You obviously have hair like me, wich is kinda wavy. Like a compromise between curly and straight :p, you get all the advantages :p
Looking forward to your progress
