Thanks to everyone who commented on my update. The thread's been bumped too far down the page to guarantee anyone seeing my replies, so I decided to make a new thread.
Frizzy hair: Yup, the oil is Africa's Best. As I've said, it's not advisable to use it every day, or too often, since it has a bit of a strong smell (not a bad one, but my mom doesn't like it, so maybe your mom won't too :P). And the braids - ha. I mainly see music artists wearing two braids, including the ever-fun Snoop Dogg, who adorns his with blue plastic balls. Back home, braids are pretty common, though.
SOADdude: Thanks! And your update was sweet, btw. Your hair's really coming along.
Absalom: Thanks, and I agree about curly hair looking its best hanging down. I like how a ponytail looks on me, and most people seem to prefer it, but it's what I like best that matters in the end. And you may be right about bandanas - my hair emerges looking flat-ironed when I keep it in a pony for too long.
Christian T: Thanks for all the compliments!
That Ball Guy: Heh, I know. My cousin already has nearly fully formed dreads. My hair is like velcro, really - if I don't do anything to it, it just sticks together and doesn't want to leave its partner. And when you finally break them apart, they get reacquainted faster than the lovey-doviest of people. Hehe. I'll only go the dread route if my hair doesn't reach at least mid-back when dry, because I want butt-length hair.
Jason: Thanks a lot! And yes, when you see it every day, the difference isn't as great, but when you take even a few weeks off, you start to notice things. It's encouraging, because my father still insists to this day that my hair can't grow "long" the way straighter hair grows, or rather that it can't fall. I guess when my hair's down to my waist, he'll relent. :P
Bragi: lol, you WERE going somewhere with it: it's always a bit of a private laugh to walk around with hair tapping your back, but then to have a braid down to your knees (!), and so on. Okay, that's a bit extreme. lol. My bangs when stretched, incidentally, reach around my collarbone area (I think. Below my shoulders anyway). Thanks for the comments, and yes, my studies are going well. They've been keeping me very busy lately, which is why I've become pretty scarce around here.
Bodhi: Thanks a lot! It's always high praise to hear compliments from you. I like the little tubes a lot as well, but they often form serious knots if left alone too long, which is a major bummer.
Dino: lol, wow. *hides in corner* I feel over-praised, lol. Thanks a lot, man.
Joao: Thank you very much! And yes, I did the braid myself. It took me a while to learn how to do it, but now I feel confident in doing it. It still takes a bit of time to get my hair separated properly, but it's worth the wait. And don't worry; I have no plans to cut my hair. I'm eager to see where terminal length will take me.
Whoo, that was long. Peace, everyone
Yep you have me using Africa's Best now. It kind of makes you
smell like a scented candle I think. Not so bad and it smooths
frizzy hair.
you welcome!!!:)
alrighty then lol i can't wait to reach the point of french braiding my hair :P. my hair is already at 7 inches. just 1-2 more inches and i can start tying it back (i think lol) it takes 8 1/2 inches to tie back your hair right?
