Hi all-
Four years ago today on Sept.7th 2002 I decided to go for a "Buzz Cut." (I had always had longish to mid-back long hair all of my life for the most part.) The "Buzz" just wasn't me, and I knew it right away.
Along the path of re-growing to todays length was 1 "Split-end" episode 2-1/2 years ago as well as my 1st and ONLY "slight trim" of just 3 weeks ago. That's it! Nothing more.
I "Finger-Comb" exclusively and once in a while follow-up with a wide toothed comb.
My goal? "As Long as I can grow my Hair." (Terminal will make that decision for me.)
I am very happy with my progress.
Justin
Congrats on your re-growth Justin. Your hair looks great right now and is an inspiration. Here's hoping that terminal length is a long way off yet!
Thanks for the well wishes Pablo. And I wish you great success as well.
Nice one Justin! Your hair is very admirable... I wish my hair was as long as yours! Here's to many more years of growth!
Neil
Thanks for your positive comments Neil. Much appreciated. Rest assured, your "wish" WILL come true with your own hair as long as you just let it grow.
This is excellent Justin. It looks truly awesome, and a length that I will aspire to eventually reach in the future. Just remember never to give in to the temptation to cut it as it looks perfect very long.
Take care.
Never fear, you WILL reach that length someday. (Think I read once that waist length hair IS possible for just about everyone.
Ha ha ha............I have absolutely NO INTENTIONS on preventing my hair to grow as long as it will.
You too and thank you for your comments.
Brilliant, Justin! Your hair's a good deal longer than I expected; I was picturing you more at mid-back, for some reason.
With all that length, your hair looks very healthy, and has that beautiful natural "V" shape. It'll be interesting to see what terminal length has planned for you.
Keep it growing!
Peace
Your kind words were really appreciated and I thank you for them.
I have never been one to like to be in front of a Camera, however, if you click on my photo above (among other things) you can see back to the Summer of 2004 taken a month or so short of my 2 year mark.
Great luck to you with your own hair growth.
Sooo impressive, Justin! I'm in awe of its thickness all the way to the ends. Congrats!
Hey Jason
Actually my hair is rather on the thin side but looks full despite. (Using lots of conditioner I think may be the secret.)Thin or not, it all gangs-up together to produce a look that I am happy with.
Best of luck to you with your own hair which is fantastic!
Justin~
Looking great! I buzzed around January of 2002, and I think you've met or maybe even surpassed me, although I don't know how tall you are.
I pretty much just do the finger comb thing too, although I brush sometimes.
I should have some better pics up soon.
I am 6' tall.
Hey...........isn't finger combing great! Especially when hair reaches this length. :-)
Thanks and all the best-
Justin
Looks great Justin! I always thought your hair was shorter too, I guess I was horribly mistaken. Great spectrum of colours. TO TERMINAL!
Thanks...............and to Terminal it will be! :-)
ps: Your own Long Hair is outstanding!
Hey Justin couldn't resist on commenting on that tremendous hair you've grown out over the last several years.WoW that simply is one of the fullest heads of hair I've seen in a while.I mean even towards the ends it still looks thick as it certainly doesn't thin out at all! With hair like that I'd be walking on air!!!Thanks for that pic Justin as its an inspiration to all here.Mark
Hi Mark
Many thanks for your kind comments.
Just hang-in there yourself and you too will be walking on air............as if you shouldn't be already with what you have attained which is sensational!
Justin
from a buzzcut. That is very fast growth, Justin. Your hair is outstanding and seems to be in excellent condition. It is quite thick, all the way to the ends, which indicates to me that it will get a lot longer than its current length. You should be able to reach classic length, (top of thighs) or even knee length. Keep it growing and flowing.
Absalom
Hey Absalom -
Thanks for the words of inspiration. They mean alot coming from you who have about the longest hair of all the guys on the Hyperboard.
In that "Trim" of 3 weeks ago lots of ends were snipped which might account for your comments about the ends...........and you know my feeling about trims. (Like never!) However, at my point I had some Hair to spare so didn't mind and was very happy with the results. In my case at this point a "Trim" WAS in order.
Justin~
a "Buzz Cut." (I had always had longish to mid-back long hair
all of my life for the most part.) The "Buzz" just wasn't me,
and I knew it right away." Justin
I just got in and checked the Hyperboard and what do I see: A LONG, beautiful mane! What a SURPRISE!!! Those are some gorgeous locks, Justin!!!
And what's even more amazing is that I started growing out my hair on
February 6, 2002, and I think you are a couple of inches AHEAD
of me!!!
Either you have faster growing hair or my waist is lower than yours. Well, whatever...
YOUR HAIR is fabulous! I love the color and the overall v-shape ending which is the cut I prefer. (I don't even know what shape mine is! Will have to take an update photo!)
Anyway, I can't even imagine you with a buzz cut!! And WHAT a transformation
you have made: from buzz cut to president of the moderators of the Men's Long Hair Hyperboard! That's one amazing Long Hair Journey, Justin!!!
Hi Luckskind
What you have written leaves me speechless to say the least. (and this happens rarely!) Thank you ever so much for all of the kind words about my 4 year mark. Your comments mean more than you will ever know.
Best of luck to you with your own hair which last I knew you had no intentions of cutting. Hey..........isn't long hair GREAT! :-)
Justin~
Looks great Justin. Just goes to show you what can be done by treated your hair right.
Bruce
Thanks Bruce. And it IS true. Hair has to be treated with care............but are the results EVER well worth it.
And so envious of your hair =) I mean it, you reached a lenght where you can really call yourself a guru of the long hair land =) Your hair is just so pretty, shiney, silky looking and LONG! And do you ever deserve it Justin? Just every inch you've grown =)
I just wish my own hair will get to my waist in the next 2 years as well, as I can't wait to have my hair in that glorious, splendorous lenght.
Oh God, all I can say is Wow, WOW, WOOOOW!!! Congratulations my dear friend =) I am wishing you the best in your future, as for growth as well =) I know I will see your hair hanging to somewhere around your knees =) I'm right behind you!!
Thank's for the picture =) See ya!
Hey Joao-
Wow..........now I'm speachless.
At the rate your hair is going Joao I almost think in 2 years you WILL have waist long hair. The wait seems forever, but it is well worth it and in your case I am sure you will love it with the astonishing super-great long hair that you already have. If you click on my photo above it will bring up some photos of progress back to 2004. Even to myself, the length from that time to now amazes me!
Thanks so much Joao, you are much too kind with your words. But as for your own hair? It is pure dynamite and most likely WILL SURPASS anything my own hair will ever do. :-)
My best to you as always, and please say hi to your sister for me.
Justin~
that's some wicked length right there Justin...congrats and keep up the good work!!
Thanks so much and may your own hair continue doing greatly!
Way to go! No wonder you're such a fan of not getting trims, your hair is fantastic and thick, as everyone else has already said, all the way to the ends.
You have always been one of the nicest men on this board, always willing to put a comment here or a suggestion there. I know that I, and many others in progress of long-hair-dom appreciate those comments very very much. So extra special congratulations of such a tremendous milestone in your growth!
All the best
~Rome
Hi Rome-
The reason I can't warm-up to the "Trim-Trend" is that allowing the hair to grow on its own ends-up with the best look of all. None of this "even-out" business at a Salon or Barber Shop. The hair "evens-itself" out just perfectly if left untouched. (Of course, that is the apperance as we all know that every hair is a slightly different length anyway because of growth cycles.
You humble me indeed with these comments which I appreciate more than you could possibly know. My heart felt thanks to you for your kindness.
Justin~
That is outstanding Justin. As Rome says, you were one of the first guys to offer such great support and kindness to me as I began my journey, your hair truly is an inspiration. Congratulations.
Hey nuttidave!
Many thanks for all you have said about me. Much appreciated. I am always happy if I can be of some help to a guy getting started growing his hair out and am most happy to do so. We guys get little support where we live...........but thanks to this Hyperboard we can all help each other. What a great place for we Longhaires to have available to us. Hope your own hair is doing great. :-)
Justin~
"...I am very happy with my progress..."
And well you should be.....that is a lot of growth for four years. Congratulations and Thanks for Sharing
Walter White Tail
Thanks Walter. It is always a joy to receive a compliment such as you gave me.
That is amazing for four years! Good job! Your haircare routine must be working, for that is some serious length.
It looks so shiny and healthy! I have to admit that I am envious!
Bragi
Thanks Bragi!
Hair care for ones particular hair is a kind-of "hunt and search" for what works right for your own particular hair-type. Even now I am still "fine-tuning" what works best. Why my hair looks as it does is even a bit of a mystery to myself. I have avoided totally Hair Dryers on a hot setting, Hair colour of any type, Straightening Irons itc. None of that stuff for me.
Funny how the "envious" works. Someday you may have hair as long as mine, and even then may be envious that you don't have another type hair. Just Human Nature I guess. Happens to me as well.
Justin~
Mr President
Congratulations and here's to the next 5 years.
Thanks. But another 5? BY then I might be walking on my hair. LOL
Wow Justin, your hair looks alot thicker and longer since your last update, whatever your doing or not doing is working great. Looks to me like you have quite a ways before terminal. That's pretty much a perfect head of hair, congrats.
Thanks so much Bodhi. Perfect? Ha ha ha, well, I wouldn't quite say that, but I am happy with what I have.
But what about yourself? From what I can see your own long hair looks quite fantastic!
Justin
Gee..is has grown quite a bit since I last saw a pic of your hair. It's looking great Justin..makes us all jealous ehe.
Thanks for the compliment but really nothing to be jealous of. Just let your hair grow without being "Trim-happy" and you will no doubt have the same length yourself. And do you EVER have killer dark hair. Looks great!
Looks great Justin. It looks like you've hit waist length... which is awesome. I've recently hit waist length as well (5 year mark though, cuz of trims), so I believe our hair is almost exactly the same length... have you measured the longest shed strand yet??
-Ardroth
Believe it or not I have stopped measuring. But, I really should just to see how long my hair really is. Glad to know you hit waist-length yourself. Isn't it great!
Congratulations. Your hair looks great. Keep it growing
