I am beginning to wonder. It is past my butt and taking care of it is a pain in the ass. The shed hair accumalated after brushing looks like a small furry animal. I have a pretty dirty job. Can you guys imagine what coal dust looks like when washed out of your hair? It is so heavy it never stays in place if I am doing something like crawling under a car, belaying a climbing partner, wearing a headlight.
Hey there =)
I tought your post was a little vague but... Well, too much is right after your hair have passed a lenght that you like. I mean, when you want to stop, you just keep trimming it.
Yet... You say your hair is past your butt?? Well, that is quite an achievement =) And based on the picture, your hair looks really well cared after and in really good condition. I wouldn't touch it =) I don't know exactly what your lenght is but for me the longer the better =) You can always braid it or bun it when you are working, that way it would be like you just didn't have any hair to disturb you.
Anyways, if you feel like your hair is too long for you already you might just give it a trim. But I vote that you try braids and buns first =)
I hope I helped... see ya!
Well, if it's a hassle to you, cut it to a length you think is managable. Butt length probably is a bit too much (in terms of convenience), and like you said, bothersome for your job.
Wow. Sounds like you have a big problem in your hands.
I wouldn't cut it, but it's up to you. If your hair has grown so long that it interferes with how you work you can either try a new direction in holding your hair in, or cut. I'd prefer just pulling it up and tying a bandana over it. < I do that when I bike >
best of luck
Don't cut it! You have achieved what most of us are still working on. It looks really great, perhaps it is worth the hassle after all is said and done.
"Too much" is a measure each person has to decide for himself.
"Too much" for some guys is anything longer than one-half inch, and "too much" to other guys is maybe anything longer than 12 feet.
I would think that you could fing some way of wearing it (and some type of head covering) that would enable you to work without being hassled by its volumn or length.
It just seems that if you've spent so much time and effort to get to this point, you should consider its wonderful length as a reward, not as a problem. And a reward should always be treasured. (By the way, how about sharing that reward with the rest of us and post a full-length photo).
Definitely 12 feet would be "kinda long", but not sure if it would "too much".
Have you tried a pony scrub? It holds my thigh length hair and fits under the climbing helmet I use for trailwork.
Pony Scrub from Blue Sky Scrubs
Then maybe something closer to shoulder length?
Yeah, I am not sure why I put it that way. I am not sure why it is that long anyway. I recall my mother saying something like I'd let it grow down to my butt if I could. I have tried everything. Braids, buns, etc. I leave the tight braids in too long and my hair retains that memory. A loose braid just starts to come loose. Either way is a pain to brush before washing. At the moment I leave it straight and put about 8 elastic ties down it. I then put it in a bun and retain it with a neck gaiter stretched over my head if I am working.
Well I am not sure what to much is but your hair looks great. I know some of your problems even though mine isn't that long. Mine is just below mid back and I put two to three bands in it at times and sometimes just shove it down my shirt. None the less it looks good for sure on you, hope you don't cut it! Take care!
Oh my freaking eyeballs, awesome hair :O
Hi Walrus,
congratulations to having such phantastic hair! In my opinion, it is definitely worth a lot of the "hassle".
If your job causes trouble, maybe braiding it and keeping the braid under the T-shirt would be a solution? Or, you could try a bun. Is there a way to wear your head light on a baseball cap or a helmet?
I'd keep the hair long, if my terminal length were past the butt. I'd consider cutting it to lower back length only, if all other solutions remain unsatisfactory.
I'd not worry about the shedding - that seems to be within normal range.
All the best!
